Oops - £429.99 - sorry bout that, got carried away!
Fairly low spec apart from the hd, i'd buy something else and get a portable HD, saves all your files when its needs repair as well
Don't be fooled by the 2.2ghz processor either, its 10-15% slower than most intel 2ghz ones

I disagree - for the money you get a lot. Including a decent screen and graphics card (even though it's integrated).

Show me something comparible that's cheaper and I'd be interested in it! ;-)
seems ok to me.
Fine if you want a slow processor with a bottom of range graphics card, a 15.6 screen is the latest selling hype and of course nothing to do with fact its cheaper to make than a 15.4
Memory is cheap nowadays if you really must have 4gb (95% of people don't need it)
So what is there to recommend it over a basis £300 laptop apart from a bigger drive?

the cpuus isnt that slow its 2.2ghz even to its amd. with thats aid its an ok machinese im not saying its super hot just ok. Unless some1 can find a better deal at this price point its worth considering me thinks.
closest intel equivalent is this Acer Aspire 5735 £419.97 better intel cpu but smaller hard drive and inferior graphics
I really do think you need to change your name as your computer knowledge seems very limited
checking the benchmarks here the processor is slower than a intel core2 6300 @ 1.86ghz
I've already pointed out its a bottom of range graphics card
so its a machine for people who don't expect much performance with a mid range price point
so what you are paying for is the HD size which brings us back to my original point that you can buy just as good cheaper and spend the rest on an external HD if you need that much storage space
similar spec apart from HD £378 but you do get lightscribe
There is no need to make fun of my username, were just here to discuss whether a deal is a good buy or not. You must really hate AMD, the E6300 is a dekstop cpu not mobile.
"CPU Benchmark results (“Baselines”) were gathered from users’ submissions to the PassMark web site as well as from internal testing. PerformanceTest conducts eight different tests and then averages the results together to determine the CPU Mark rating for a system."
"Rarely is a graph completely accurate in what it is representing. There are many factors that can skew the results and make a graph misleading. As such it is necessary to have some background understanding of the data being presented."
The Compaq laptop also has 3gb of ram, yes ram are easly to isntall but not everyone knows how to do so. This is a laptop suited for those who desire more storage space rather than speed and graphic, ok you can have an external hard drive but then you have to spend more and you will have to carry the hard drive with you wherever the laptop goes. Like i said earlier this laptop is worth considering biut not a super hot deal, for those who dont care about storage space or 3gb ram the compaq is also worth considering, if you want speed the acer 5735 with the intel t6400 should be the fastest out of the 3.

There's a better deal from simplyacer:

core 2 duo, stand alone graphics card. Smaller HD and less RAM but I would rather have this for the same money.

Thanks for that - it's a pretty good deal!
