Can anyone offer me any advice around the processor speed as on the face of it, this seems like a good deal. But I aint got the techie knowledge to know much more than the 4GB RAM is good, and a 500GB hard drive is more than suitable for me.

cheers

According to the AMD site, the processor is Dual Core with 1MB L2 Cache... which is pretty standard for a laptop like this... AMD site
The laptop itself has great reviews on ebuyer.

The AMD RM-74 processor is not great - it is slower than an Intel T3000 Celeron 1.8GHz processor and it uses the older 65nm process so it runs hotter and reduces battery life. The ram and hard drive are fine but it will cost you to order the Windows 7 upgrade DVD - really at this price you should be looking at a laptop that comes with Windows 7 installed such as this one with similar spec but much better processor:

... which also has brilliant reviews

Thanks for the info Simon, much appreciated.

Just a matter of weighing things up, and considering the possibilities when the sales kick in later next month I guess.

In fact it is listed above a Core 2 Duo 2Ghz Cpu and massively above the Celeron 1.83Ghz Dual Core.

Isn't that the one where a set of replacement cartridges costs over £100?

The inks aren't cheap, but they last ages.
~£28 for black, ~£25 for colours.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you based on this table.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+Turion+X2+Dual-Core+Mobile+RM-74

Celeron is rated at 1175, about halfway up to the top of the list from where the AMD is.

You have to look at the exact model numbers - a current Intel Celeron is faster than a Core 2 Duo from 2 years ago. I am comparing the AMD RM-74 to the Intel T3000 1.8GHz and T4300 2.1GHz models which are 10-20% faster and use less power.

Hi,

I WOULD AVOID buying from this company!!

I have had the displeasure of buying from them 3 times.

1. Reported for fraud, as tried to debit my card AFTER inital sale
2. Delivery took 8 days in total! After choosing next day!
3. Same as number 1 above! They had the nerve to try the same stunt and debit my card a 2 time!

Bad news guys an girls:x

Just thought you should know WHY they are so cheap!
