Cracker of a deal for a basic lappy! Needs another gig of RAM though.

Is that easy to do?
#3
Yep ! 5 minute job to add extra ram.

Not a bad price for the spec, I'd personally leave the RAM and replace VISTA with XP.

If I didn't already have 3 laptops at home, I'd have bought this one !

Does anyone know where to get extra RAM and what type?
#10
Great deal for a basic laptop. Would recommend it except for the fact that the track pads on these aren't great and there's no way to switch them off. (At least that I could find)

When typing if you happen to touch the track pad in the slightest with the palm of your hand it can move the curser and screw up what your typing. Found this very frustrating and couldn't find a way to disable it.

Think that's just a general complaint about most laptops, that I'd share. To be honest it took me about a year to figure out what was going on when I used my first laptop and I'd suddenly be typing half way back up the page in the middle of a previous sentence. Most annoying.

This is a good deal. Preferable to most of the netbook deals out there personally.

Got my wife an Acer 5315 last xmas and in the system tray you'll see a square icon which is for the trackpad and (somewhere within the settings) enables autoshutoff of its functionality whilst typing, once you stop it automatically comes back on.

Never had the problem with Dell, Gateway, Toshiba, IBM or HP laptops I've used. Seems the Acer was the only one that was so uber sensitive it caused constant aggravation.

At least HP now include a physical on/off button above the pad on some laptops which is amazing.

If you want to do it legally, you'll need a seperate XP licence, unfortunately you cant "downgrade" with the vista licence (in this case)
#33
Anyone got theirs yet? Mine was dispatched on the 26th but only arrived at the depot on the 29th apparently!
#34
Yeah, I got mine delivered saturday.

Original price was on the box too - think it was 599 (last year)
#35
Got mine yesterday, not bad laptops, takes some clearing up of the bloatware though!
