Agreed, although prices aren't as good as they were back then, you can't get it for that price now can you?

it was a t7500 (2.0ghz core 2 duo)

cannot see this one really having a 2048MB L2 Cache ;)

you got a T7500 for that £320, was that mis-price or something

I see that you paid £329. You got a good machine for the money, Although looking at it i am not sure why that machine has such a good processor surely it can never be pushed to anywhere near what it is capable of, especially with the old x3100 graphics chip. But still you dot a good machine for the money

Did anyone get a T1000? That would be good as you could set it on your enemies...:p

Ins't the deal from Comet better ?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/312597/acer-as5735-388-comet-was-538-29/

For £19 extra you get an extra 1GB ram.

as pointed out in the op no, the comet machine has an old graphics chip that compromises the machine quite badly in my opinion. also if the 1gb of extra ram is really that important to then by a 2gb stick from play for £11.99 and you have the same machine as the comet one but with better graphics at a lower price and you could sell the 1gb stick you take out of this for a fiver

Ah ok, thanks. Missed the bit in the OP. Soz.

This does look a good deal, as other laptops recently posted, however I keep on err'ing regarding the weight of them.

I'd like a light one, but the recent ones have been on the 2.5kg to 3kg mark.

The netbooks are light, however, it's the Spec's that let them down a bit. The betetr spec'ed ones are then hittign the realms of laptop pricing.

mumbojumbo
curofone, if you stop talking down to everyone on this thread some people may actually vote this hot! Just a thought! ;-)

I have no spoken down to anyone, if someone has asked a question i have given an honest answer, if someone has made a point i have given my opinion, that is not talking down to someone in my view.

"Curofone" , your words in the other thread, comet one
Processor: good (i'll give you that)
RAM: ok (a lot of it but slow) (less with play alternative)
Hard Drive: ok (Starting to expect 250gb on machines now)
Graphics: Terrible (is an old chip that i believe does not even support HD Video) (only slight better)
OS: Poor (Why put basic on this machine, ah becuase it costs less and makes the spec look better than they should for the money)
Extras: poor (no bluetooth, no lightscribe but does hava a webcam)

Overall: ok but not a great deal plus you can get it from other retailers for the same price

That's an interesting comment. Now let me compare the downsides pointed out of the other laptop against this version.........

Thank you for sharing with me what i wrote but i was aware of it and had not forgotten. First issue the RAM yes it has 1gb less put as pointed out you can buy a 2 gb stick from play for £11.99 making this 4gb for a lower price and in fact if you want you could remove both 667 mhz sticks and replaced that with 2 800mhz sticks and it would still be cheaper (assuming you sell the sticks you take out) than the comet one there fore this is a better deal in my opinion.

Secondly the graphics, the 4500HD is not slightly better than the x3100, there is 30 places between them in the ranking tables at http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html, to me that is not slightly. The 4500 has extra features such as HD video playback that the other one does not support and will be better for older gaming although neither machine is really a gaming machine.

These are the downsides pointed by the "Curafone" in the comet thread. The bold letters are my recent comments for this laptop.

lol, you completely ignore the actual technical aspecs of the post.

I am trying to give an honest opinion of the spec in this, the comet one, and the hp's at dabs and ebuyer so people can make an informed choice if they were to go for one of the machine.

Personally if it was my money i would go for the hp at dabs, if i was one of those people that did not like AMD processors then i would go for this.

out of the four machines in the sub £400 market here is the order i would buy them in.
1st HP 6735s dabs (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/312313/hp-6735s-athlon-64-3gb-ram-250gb-hd)
2nd HP 6735s ebuyer (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/306927/hp-6735s-laptop-389-98-ebuyer-amd-t)
3rd This acer
4th the other acer at comet. (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/312597/acer-as5735-388-comet-was-538-29)
