Yes, canny price for that specific incarnation of that model.

Even better when you whack off 5% using code/Varsity (£19.50) and 0.5% Quidco (£1.95)

hp 6735s on ebuyer are good value - processor a little weaker but has dedicated graphics and high quality brand - depending on what model some have less ram etc but others have higher hdd +8cell battery etc - depends what you want it for.
As i said above though this is a nice deal too.

Pity it is only Vista Home Basic.

dell studio 15 2nd model with 10% voucher (i think one posted again) also good for a little more again (studio 17 too for bigger screen for little more inc better graphics)

Yeah. I've been looking at laptops around this price range lately and this is a decent price for a decent model, but it makes no sense that they've put Basic on a model with this processor and this much RAM. Most of their similar models, or the ones around the same level from other companies, have Vista Home Premium.

So might be a slightly better deal for someone who's going to wipe it and put on their own operating system, I guess.

Why did eBuyer get banned? Anyone got a link to the post?

emmajk42
Currently, we have made the decision not to allow ebuyer deals on the forums, due to constant self-promotion which is a breach of the HUKD code of conduct.
#13
So ebuyer was posting their own hotukdeals to use the website as an advertising tool. :x

I bet they are not the only ones to exploit this tactic.

Good on Hotukdeals to take such a stance though. It can only promote more confidence in the light of such a finding.
#14
Spec wise not as good as the 6530G from Tesco last week but then again this one has an Intel CPU and is £10 cheaper.
#15
Shame they dont act so quickly with the other companies exploiting this site - particularly the big supermarkets!

My first hot deal!!! I am so proud :-)

ebuyer one was http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158887 - sometimes when you click it from product list actually goes to wrong one - weird.

dell one lol just checked they have a new version its not the same - got one delivered today 449 quid t6400 4gb ram 320gb hdd vista home premium ati 3450 and other gubbins i cant remember off hand - guess studio17 has changed also but it used to be that with 17inch screen and ati 3650 for less than 50 quid more. (seems to be 530 now tho)

can upgrade an inspiron (ram+graphics) to similar to old studio tho if code works on prepromotion price which i think it does. (457 if so)

edit: think the acer was the fantastic deal which is now over :http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/387172/acer-aspire-6530g-t5800-blu-ray-4gb/

CNET review:

The good:
Bargain-basement price; decent performance; 16:9 display will appeal to movie lovers; does Draft N Wi-Fi.

The bad:
Flimsy, plastic chassis; clacky mouse buttons; somewhat low screen resolution; keyboard feels a bit cramped because it must make room for separate number pad.

The bottom line:
A mainstream laptop at a Netbook price, the Acer Aspire 5735 provides the basics plus a movie-friendly 16:9 aspect display.

Bad onboard shared graphics chip, not blu ray and it's made by Acer.

However as a desktop replacement it seems fairly competent, I personally wouldn't want to be lugging it around everywhere!

I have the T5750 model with 2gb ram (but vista home premium) & got it in Sept last year for around £350 from Tesco. I use it every day & I must say i'm very pleased with it.

It doesn't have the separate numeric keypad as mentioned on the other model and the key's have a slight 'bounce' to them - but I kind of like this.

The crystalbrite screen took a bit of getting used to at first, but now other laptops look dull compared to it.

It is slightly heavy, especially as I hump it around in a Techair laptop bag - but all in all a very good machine in my opinion.

put xp or windows 7 on it and youre laughing :)

really great spec for the money, with the 5% rac code its even better value

heat and rep added

So what is the best laptop you can get for £450 if this isn't it?

Something that plays a few games would be good

Yeah, dreadful graphics......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNKn5N9NtqY

Don't just assume that these chips are useless, far from it. Yes, they're a compromise, but then you're not paying a huge amount of money.
#27
Very poor deal.

You could get this for £390 a week ago:

There would be better ways - such as banning the posters when they do that. Ebuyer is a great site and high value so banning them does seem a little self defeating - which can be seen from the amount of ebuyer deals that are coming from this thread. Either the deal is a hotone or its not. Its not a hot one but check ebuyer first as theirs could be better :?

Nice laptop but the pre-installed Acer software is a pain, suggest removing it if you buy one.

Hi there

Can you please tell me how I can get a voucher / promotional code for this item?

Great deal thanks!! :)
Just bought this laptop after weeks of searching! Definitely the cheapest price around for this spec...although Play have upped the price to £399 now.

Whats the point of blue ray on a laptop when the film will probably outlast the battery?
Besides most of these laptop screens won't do a blue ray any justice at all, another gimmick and unnecessary expense when buying a laptop IMO.
