Good if you want to run Vista. Not so good for Linux or XP. Won't vote because I think it'e luke warm.
#3

#4

it should be, Briefcase, with FREE ACER LAPTOP

Cos to be honest, I think the briefcase will last 10 times longer than it lol.

I hate acers after having 3 faulty ones in a row. But hey, its a hot deal and credit where credits due. Heat from me!

I think this one is a better all round deal, although it is a refurb from Dixons, the spec is tantalsing red hot
Blu-ray laptop for £360

Good deal but worth considering the other laptop deals posted shortly before/after this one: Dell XPS for £100 more if you need a high spec laptop, otherwise look at the Acers at £300 and £360 - amazing cheap laptops if you don't need anything flash.

(I'm typing this on my old pentium 4 desktop running Ubuntu, but about to switch and do some work on the £250 Gateway laptop I got last year - I don't really believe in expensive high-spec computing!)

you can pick up blue ray drives cheap now on ebay! this laptop is better! that 1 you posted is a ugly white old fashioned colour which puts it off lol
black is popular again! silver replaced it years ago for a while but if you notice silver and black comes together on some gadgets but black is used more now on things! :)
oh im not begin shallow but everythink counts and this laptop has got it - the looks - the specs etc.. . Just the whole SHA-BANG LOL

Err right buy it because its black and not white.....

Regardless of colour, I'd say the other one is better, pretty much because the specs list the gfx card as a nVidia GeForce 9300M GS - top end laptop gfx card, whilst this one which is a Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset - about as basic as you get.

This one does have a slightly better processor, 1GB RAM more (which apparently doesn't matter in 32-bit Windows) and a bigger hard-drive (but not everyone needs large storage space on an internal laptop drive). Of course there are other differences like 15" v 17" and the other being a refurb but with blu-ray.... But with an apparent saving of £100 I know which I'd get.....

EDIT: I nearly forgot the now mandatory, they are both Acer's though.......

Not many ppl like white laptops, they get dirty easy etc! its not a racist thing lool
If that other laptop was black or silver then yeah i'd most prob hold my hands up and say it was slighty better but considering this laptop has got the full works and its powerfull, its not a bad choice. . .

Talking about stoage space! of course everyone needs a big storage place!
People who look for a laptop with alot of features always want a big hardrive, think of all the latest gadgets that are out, digital camera's, camcorders etc and most people at home edit make home videos etc. . . So stoage is important and so is ram, and processor . . . most people have a wii, ps3 or a xbox360 to play games on now hehe so graphics card isnt really an high issue problem unless your a gaming freak but most gamers use a pc of course. . .

Fair enough mate, I'm not trying to change your thinking - its your choice.

I just happen to agree with the other fella that overall, the other is a better choice - looking at the more normal price/specs point of view. I think its always worth pointing out such in these circumstances on such a site.

Anyway, its an Acer.

Yeah bro its kool. . . : yeah the other 1 is a good price range and + specs so i do agree the other 1 is good for its price! and its good to point out things and to feel what you say on here so all the people on low budget can pick the best specs for the cheapest price :;-)

I was considering getting this but am curious to know why it's not good for Linux as I'd be running it on dual boot. I

sorry for asking again, but I'm hovering over the add to my basket button!! Why would this not be good for Linux? I need to be able to program in Perl, so need dual boot.

If you look on ebuyer review and other reviews about this then your see people mentioning it works fine with linux! 1 of the posters on this topic who said it wouldnt work with linux hasnt got a clue  he even said it wouldnt work well with XP come on give m a break it comes with Vista! so ignore it and you should get it, its a nice laptop. . .
