Anyone tried this laptop? Any feedback?

I'm tempted by the 3d.
#3
I don't see any hdmi, if no hdmi than a bit of a waste of space imo
3d content is still rare and sbs pc standard for 3d will be a while to take hold, hdmi with 3d seems like it was too expensive?

Shame really.

What's this obsession with HDMI ports with every laptop deal? Genuinely curious, not taking the mickey.
#10
if you look closely at the pic, from the review link, there is an hdmi slot. If the picture is true to the real thing.
#11
Other than the processor this is a cracking deal , well done again Andy !

4 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz
--- very slow memory that was used at least 4 years ago (so does the mother board I assume)

BTW, my 3-year old Thinkpad T500 has a FSB 1066 MHz and the DDR3 memory used is working at the same frequency

Is Acer trying to get rid of some old memory/mother board/cpu stock?

So you can connect your laptop to your TV or Home cinema receiver to receive full HD display and 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

This is just a pointless gimmik, old old specifications, you can get an i3 for this price! It's a good price compared to elsewhere but that still doesnt make up for its poor specifications, cold!

You really expect a laptop with these specs to have fantastic battery life?? It's a 2.8kg desktop replacement laptop not an ultraportable. The majority of users are going to have this sitting on their desk and rarely (if ever) move it from there, taking up less space than a traditional tower PC. What a bizarre criticism to make of the most common type of laptop today. If you want portability, you'd get smaller, lighter ultraportable.

A better criticism would be comparing it's specs to others in the same class of laptops - I suspect you can do better for the price. It's an older CPU, older memory (DDR2), and so on. It will still perform well though - and the 3D glasses would be expensive; this deal gives you two.

I agree with unoriginal guy, its a poor battery life compared to a lot of laptops at this price. And I wouldnt agree that people will see this as a desktop replacement. Most would go for a 17", a 15.4" such as this is meant to be portable to a point.

can i use this laptop's screen to output display of my ps3 games

Nope, its a HDMI output not input
#23
Why oh why would you make a 3D laptop without Blu-Ray. Acer are shooting themselves in the foot!

Do they really think that people are going to purchase these just to watch Youtube in 3D?

It won't affect the performance , you just pointlessly paid a premium 3 years ago for buying a laptop with DDR3 :) .

what is the closest thing i can get/do, which would allow me use ps3's blu-ray drive on my laptop to play 3d movies??

thanks

ps. jail breaking is not an option!

Cracking price for the spec. Just slightly too big for me, though.

3D ready laptop without bluray-dvd drive :( pointless

Without Bluray, decent graphics or a decent processor! The graphics are discrete but severely unpowered and a T4400 CPU while good for general use is still too slow for even low-end gaming.

The technology's clever but without even being pessimistic, the screen is a total waste on something barely above low-end.

Why do you people never understand. you got same spec couple of year ago for stupid money, this is only £360 . a decend t500 version was costing nearly a grand. 3 years a ago PS3's were a lot dearer too, same principal.
