The ONLY advantage of this laptop is the longer battery life due to the ULV processor but the 15.6" display will use so much power that this is a small advantage. I would rather have a Dell Inspiron 1564 with Core i3 for £399 from CPW.

My Acer laptop battery failed after 11 months.

Acer refused to replace it - only six months guarantee they said.

I phoned Tesco where it was purchased from. No problem - replacement battery arrived within 24 hours.

Moral but from somewhere with good customer service.

you could say that about any company though, your contract being with tesco though, they did the right thing for you. Batteries do fail, my HP is chronic.... i should have learned my lesson from the failed laptop screen 18 months in, but no, subjected myself to a further HP with now non existent battery at 18 months.

the acer on the other hand is 3 years old and has 2 5 hours battery life still oO

It’s NOT the only advantage. These CULV laptops are generally very cool running and the 14” version of the Timeline is extremely quiet and even the 15.6” version is light compared to other laptops of the same size such as the 1564.
I’m not saying it’s better or worse than an Inspiron 1564 but they are more different than you suggest.
I demoed a 1564 and it was too noisy for me even at idle whereas the Timeline was quiet even at 100% load.

You can get the best of both worlds with the TimeLineX series as they have Core i3/i5 CPUs but still give up to 8 or 12 hours (6 or 9 cell) with light usage.
Curry’s have the i3 version for £475 as a refurb.

Err actually this laptop is 2.4Kg and the Dell 1564 is 2.47Kg.
