I brought this at Comet, 2 weeks ago and paid £399. Really like it, does everything I ask of it. Even better for this price! Hot!

Wouldn't buy an Acer myself but it's a good price for the model and spec.

I admit it is a good price for the spec, i too wouldn't touch an acer product, they push them out at this price for mass sales, but don't expect good build quality or it be working 18 months down the line.

I'm not going to vote hot or cold, personally I'd go for a Asus or Sony or if you are on a budget get a dell

Battery life isn't too great either.

Its Visa Home Permium hence only for home users hence nothing of use to half the people who buy laptops to be able to hook them up to a network at times

plus vista is best when it is either Business or Ultimate (a very sexy version)

a laptop being C2Duo or Santa Rosa (as in 7500)should not make much difference, honestly i konw because I have used a software called SAP on both the versions and there is not much difference

Weight and battery life is not impressive at all

Acer has a pathetic return policy and hence might be worth checking with Play as to what they will do if the machine is faulty, cause i am sure there is no replacement or refund !

You can tell I hate Acer and anyone who has had waited for one months to see the back of their laptop just to have to send it back again in one week's time will agree with me !

It can connect to a network just not to a corporate network that’s using a Windows Server based Domain. I doubt many people here need Domain access for their laptops.

Core 2 Duo is a CPU and Santa Rosa is a platform. The T7300 CPU in this deal is a 2GHz 800MHz FSB 4MB cache Core 2 Duo that is a component of the Santa Rosa platform. Judging by the specs for this it is the full Santa Rosa platform. i.e. Intel CPU, chipset & WiFi card.

Agreed on the first bit

I dont think this is a full Santa Rosa as nromally the full santa Rosa will start off from T7500 ?

The Santa Rosa platform introduced the 800MHz FSB so any current mobile Intel CPU with a FSB of 800 is automatically part of that platform and incompatible with earlier versions which were limited to 667MHz FSB.
It’s being replaced by a new 1066MHz FSB platform in July I think.

just checked and you are right, hence if I could i would vote this deal hot !

Are you talking about Montevina platform when you say being planned to release in July ?

Mine has arrived and I am very impressed!! It's so FAST!!

It was set up in less than 30 mins and connected to my home wireless modem on the first attempt on entering the network key (i've heard some Sky customers have had probs doing this at times etc)

The battery lasts for just over 3 hours and even though the resolution isn't the best out there it does the job for me!!
