I got one last week for price stated, plus Quidco tracked. It is a pretty good laptop, and great price, but had a few dead pixels and a "screen burn". I asked for a discount off, they offered me 5%. Sent it back for a full refund. Would be nice if it was mint, but that's the chance you take...

I don't know whether to go for this or wait for something better! I was looking at spending around £500-550 on a laptop, but I could get this and save some money... hmm! I think "refurbished" is putting me off.

I bought a refurbished Dell laptop with almost similar specs except 8GB ram for 502 pounds. Its just like new and great. This deal looks good and its decent specs for the price. Hot for me
#12
this has a pretty good medium spec'd graphics card and a very fast quad core cpu
#13
Would you be able to play the latest pc games on this?
#14
could be a good laptop but would not risk going for DSG refurb - too many horror stories (a few experienced myself, learn from my mistakes)
#15
Just bought one, Looks like an awesome processor and decent GFX card...

If theres anything wrong with the refurb surely there'd be no problem getting a full refund via the 12 month warranty?

Surely there WOULD BE a problem to get a full refund from them.Check the laptop thoroughly (really !!!) use some test programs & benchmarks such as OCCT ( esp. linpack ), PC Mark, try to convert a couple of movies to different formats and make sure that everything is fine.If not, send it back within the first 7 days (under DSR), the warranty from DSG means nothing...

Hmm, 7 days.... Not a very long time to find faults :/ -- I was under assumption that it had a 12 month warranty, No?
Also I completely forgot to ask, Am I covered for things like dead pixels, scratches etc?
Would be a massive let down if I wasnt..

You seem to have previous experience/knowledge of refurbs from Dixons/Currys/PCW, Want to offer me any advice/tips etc regarding refurbs? Would massively appreciate it...

If it's a hardware problem, and they will give you tests to do to confirm this, you can send back for refund....I think within 28 days. I did with a refurb from there 8)

It is definately a good deal, dont worry the support you receive is no different to what you would receive if you had purchased it full price (good or bad) and all being well you wont have a problem with the computer anyway. if concerned checkout the Acer website they do excellent extended support packages for a fraction of the price of the retailer.

Arrived today and is faulty.

The backlight inverter is making the screen create a loud high pitched buzz. The noise goes away when you toggle the display on and off.

Dixons are picking it up tomorrow for a full refund.

Just tried to get one, product no longer available...almost got my card details as well...gutted, this seemed to be a bargain.
#24
Hi, I've tried twice to buy this, yesterday and today, both times I got as far as entering card details, then when I try to confirm - Bam the deal is gone and the product is unavailable...anyone else encounter these issues? Thanks
