This is a refurb, does'nt say so on page tho......
Still not a bad deal tho....Just thought you & others should no.

Maybe you could try to get someone else to price match with it not saying it is a refurb anywhere on the spec sheets. Might not work as when they search the refurb line would appear in the search results.

Refurbs can still get the windows 7 upgrade as you can apply for the upgrade directly via Acer. I know this works as I have done it myself with an Acer refurb from PCWorld.

But Windows 7 upgrade or not, this is still a good deal for a very capable laptop. I have the Aspire 6920G, which is very similar and it is a great machine.

Is the Aspire 6920 a replacement for the 6930? Can't find many 6930's out there now....

That's even worse than the usual snake-belly-low-dealing that DSG companies usually get up to... very economical with the truth there! :x

How long will it have been used prior to it being refurbished...and what do they mean by this...is a question of them having touched up any scratches etc?

Your guess is as good as mine! The state of a few scratches is not the big deal, it's the innards surely that counts! Some refurbs are cosmetically perfect in proper boxes, some are glanced-at customer returns that might or might not be any good!

With laptops, the extra problem is - what state is the battery going to be in? No-one warrants second-hand batteries, beyond them working the first day perhaps! Might have had ten minutes use, maybe months of overcharging!

Nothing wrong with second-hand, whether or not it has the "refurb" euphemism attached or not, it's whether it's CHEAP enough, to justify taking the gamble and shop "refurbs seldom are cheap at all :-(

The point would appear to be 3 questions: how much is it new, what has it had done to it, and how much is it now. The last one is the only one clearly answered

I got a refurb Dell from PC World last week and the laptop itself was in immaculate condition, not a mark or anything. It was delivered in a Dell box with all the proper padding, and they'd included a brand new battery in the box- which actually caused no end of problems since the laptop refused to charge the battery saying it couldn't recognise it's ID tag! It took an hour on the phone to Dell support to discover the BIOS on the laptop was too old and needed flashing to support newer battery types.

To be honest I'm very pleased with the laptop and wouldn't hesitate to buy another refurb in future (provided PCW stop delivering via #!*$@! DHL!)
