Same laptop has been on offer at Simply Acer for the last five weeks.

I wonder how many people are buying these. The Q9000 is very power hungry and not that great for software that's not optimised to take advantage of multiple cores. If this fell to £599 I might be tempted but for £699, a modern i3/i5 machine makes more sense.

I have just seen that they also have one for £799.99 with a Bluray writer and 1TB HDD. Are there better laptops than these with the same amount of features?

I have looked at the i3/i5, but cannot find anything with similar spec for around the same price. Most seem to be around £1,000.

Same here, am looking for a big screen (17"+) laptop and am struggling to find one much under a grand. Saw this one before, just how much slower is the processor than an i3/i5?

According to here:

This processor ranks quite well compared to i3/i5 processors.

I was looking at a Dell Studio 17" laptop but they have gone up in price recently.

This Sony looks pretty good value for the money especially when you consider it has a decent graphics card, a full HD screen & a blu-ray drive...

Nice, but only a 0.3MP webcam? What were they thinking? I am going to be using mine for video calling on Skype quite a bit and don't really want to have to buy a seperate webcam.
