Intel usually better for laptops

Which machine is better overall performance wise though? The AMD version has Blu-ray I think vs the Intel which has larger Storage (320GB) and the dedicated memory apparrently for graphics card is 1GB. I will be doing occasional video-editing (Camcorder to PC).
#5
Anyone???
#6
Ok - for video editing go for intel machine
- it depends which editing software you are using but many software companies are building the software around the newer intel chips

Intel laptop also has the better graphics card.

Intel has 2MB rather than AMD's 1MB cache on the processor - more stable when multi tasking

Between these 2 machines go for the intel..;-)

Many thanks....

they actually increased the price of this, it was £550 excluding discount code on comet before, and it was £500 at tescos. most places have run out of stock now, i think only comet have this in stock. So basically its cheapest laptop available now with 1gb 9600gt GDDR2 but it was much cheaper a few months ago. previous tesco deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/448917/acer-6930g-16-laptop-p7450-2-13ghz-/

Yep...Comet just messed me around after placing an order and taking 24hrs to then notify me it is out of stock.. Car phone warehouse have some with the Bluray Player, but lesser spec. In the end I've gone back to Argos and placed order. Got a £10 voucher on Argos site....just about covers the delivery charge!!!! Will this be eligible for a Window's 7 Upgrade? And is it possible to extend the warranty on this (no through Argos)?

Is it possible to use the Express Card slot for a firewire connection? I will need to do video editing on this.

theres a firewire connection on the left hand side of the laptop and i think you can use the express card slot for wirewire too, plenty of those converters on ebay.

LOL i always thought my laptop had 3 usb ports, didnt realise the esata port acted as usb until i read the above! Argos says it has 3 usb ports aswell. And after looking at that list and my laptop it does not have firewire, sorry. So yeah just buy a firewire card off ebay, amazon, 7dayshop etc etc.

Cheers...thanks

Also...since I understand the Vista to be 32 bit version, I understand that it doesn't recognise/make use of the 4GB Ram, only 3. Is this eligible for upgade to Windows 7? Will that be 64 bit?

Why bother putting in 4GB Ram if the operating system only recognises maximum 3GB then?
#16
Why have 4GB Ram spec if the operating system supplied only recognises 3GB?
