Would this machine be sufficient to run simultaneous design programs such as Adobe Indesign CS4, Photoshop CS4 etc, Illustrator CS4.

I usually run a few of these programs at the same time as well as Outlook and IE7.

I can see that the graphics card included is quite lame, but how about the actual spec.

Please help - thanks

(not voted as have no idea if this is a good deal)

we have similar spec'd Lenovo's at work but with XP 64bit and 8gb of ram, i was able to open every cs4 program in the Design suite and evey program in Office 2007 with IE 7 windows open and can still flick between them fluidly. you may want to upgrade the graphics card in the future but for what you work with it is more than capable.

Hope this helps

I voted Hot as the deal from mesh (link below) has less ram smaller harddrive and no OS which would briing the price up to around the same, this is ready out of the box so for anyone who doesn't have that confidence when it comes to fiddling with computers they won't have to.

How does this compare to the Dell Vostro 430 with the Core i7?

I know that deal has expired, but I don't know whether it's worth hanging on for another deal (which I'm sure will be here soon) or just go for this Acer one...

I have this machine. I use CS4 and run progs while editing like Firefox, spotify and my email client. i have watched this while editing with CS4 and at most it will sit running at 46% and about 57% memory.

So yes it does run the said programmes with ease and it is very very quiet. I changed the power settings and uninstalled the free 60 day Norton programme and stupid games that Acer shipped with it. Its on most days for over 18 hours and so far it has been fine.

If i had 1 grievance it would be the button to open the cd tray which is located at the side on the right...............a pain and fiddly

Good machine and well worth the cash.

That's what I thought, glad I held fire on this one. Sure we'll get a good Vostro 430 deal again soon...
