Sounds tempting, although there seems to be confusion over the graphics card. It mentions NVIDIA 9500GS and NVIDIA 8600GT ????

Any comments about this deal from our resident experts ?

It is the better 8600GT, this deal gets wheeled out every couple of weeks.

Still it is a hot deal though

Having access to USB ports on the front/top of the processor makes life so much easier. It's quick, good looking and I feel that it was good value for money having compared it to various other quad core processors.

I'm sorry but this is rubbish unless I'm missing something big.

Base only. Decent enough Phenom (but not Core i7 standard)... but more importantly, it's not a decent GPU!

I'm sure you can do much better with just a brief bit of research.

Are you having a laugh? There's no way in hell you'll get an i7 chip with a PC this price.

This PC is VERY good for the price you pay. You'd only just be able to build a better one yourself for the money.

Agreed, that's what I would do but for people wanting a great machine for internet blu ray etc. great budget pc you also have Quidco and £5 off making it even cheaper and machine looks absolutely stunning!

If you can find a pre-built one cheaper though please post.

Remember can always sell graphics card and buy another one they are so easy to unistall and install.

sorry

well picked it up and it is indeed 2 600gb hard drives which annoying

no cds at all is annoying

case is a pain to get open as there is a small lever at the back you need to depress to get the side off (yes invalidates warranty but i needed to mod the pc)

i like it alot

from turn on to on the net is 15 mins max

i estimate to buld this with local shop bought parts would be £650 to £700, ebay bits £600

well worth it

im about to buy a copy of vista home premium as i like to have the cd and 2 x 1.5 tb drives and then reinstall it all

one thing that did annoy me is the dvd writer is a non brand as is the bluray drive and even more annoying is the power supply is 400w and only hs 4 sata power supplies on it as i wanted to add my 2 old sata drives

any questions pm me

yes this PC will be quite good for gaming.

In fact i think this may be cheaper than building your own PC. I'd have to price it all up and i cant be bothered, but this is a good price.

Considering a few years ago, PC's this spec were a thing of dreams, now it's an affordable price. If i hadn't of just built myself a PC, i'd have bought this probably

Bare in mind that most Tesco buyers are not speed freaks or modders, and this spec would still be useful for many years.

Isn't there a utility to make restore disks?
#29
Slightly off topic but picking up on the 2 x 600gb drives. Would it be possible to install get these drives to work as a RAID by installing a PCI Serial ATA (SATA) Storage controller Raid, like this one for instance?

The only usable setup with this is mirroring data from one HD to the other and therefore losing 600GB storage space. I wouldn't try striping (combining space on both HDs as one drive letter) because if one drive goes, you lose all your data. If you get another 600GB drive and a RAID 5 capable card, then you can get 1.2GB of usable (striped) storage with some ability to recover your data if one drive goes.

#34
Just ordered one, you'd be hard pushed to find a better spec at this price.Theres always someone who claims you can get a better one somewhere else but they never seem to say when and where. And the code still works.

Arrived yesterday, like some people have said its very easy to switch off when opening the dvd drawer I've done it 3 times up to now. Very fast and easy to set up. Can't get it to play Blu ray discs tried 3 different programs which claim to play blurays but keep getting the same error message. Be careful when deleting programs you think you may not need I deleted something called Acer Live arcade thinking it was an online gaming software and it turned out to be the media player for this computer.
#35
Ordered one but a bit apprehensive now having read in several places about it not being able to send video signals to the TV over HDMI. Has anyone received it and tried this yet?
#36
Can anyone tell me whether this PC is going to be any good for general game playing? Things like Football Manager 2009, EVE Online and X3? The spec on it pretty much urinates on every aspect of my current PC but after reading around about it, I can't seem to find anything that's particularly helpful.

From what I can gather it should be fine, but I'd rather get some opinions before investing the cash!!
#37
very very good

quick as a nun on roller skates

had to remove 1 of the drives as its only got 2 x sata power leads so took out the 600gb and am planning to put a 1.5tb in

Sorry but 15 mins from turn on to on the net is very very slow.... I only have a core2duo E6750 @2.67 Ghz and when running vista ultimate takes max of 2 mins from turn on to on the net... even including having anti-spyware, anti-virus etc etc running too.

and when I'm running the new ubuntu 9.04 takes less than 1 min.

I assumed it took 15mins to setup from the initial switch on - Having to run through the vista set up crap etc.

Even the worst PCs out there don't take 15 mins to bootup ;)
