Yes its cheap but it is horribly slow.

Are all these netbooks slow? Is there anything that is nippy when running XP or 7 (not interested in Linux) particularly with a higher screen resolution. Would this one be slower than the N260/N270 of the NC10 etc?
#3
doubt its that slow if you just want to do general tasks and potter around on the internet

acer timeline , yeah not a net book, but very small laptop, core solo 1.4 gig proc, nippy enough, and very nice lappy

Yes it is very slow - it is the same processor as in the bottom level Dell Mini 10 - the Z520 only runs at 1.3Ghz and is slower than the standard N270 1.6GHz Atom used in most netbooks. What really makes it slow is the chipset - it is designed for a MID not a netbook. I actually have a Mini 10 with this Z520 cpu and I can assure you its performance is awful.

11.6" netbook - kinda defeats the advantage of a netbook doesn't it - portability?

Still hard to beat that 10" Compaq at CPW for £179 - lovely little machine to use.
