Never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life. A scam? Have they taken your money? No I don't think they have. Please explain to me how this is a scam, I literally can't wait to hear your reply.

Amazing price but you'll have to go to the store to find out if there's any stock. The online checker only displays stock if they have 3 or more at your chosen location. Since this is a .97p clearance item you'll be hard pushed to find any stores that have more than 1 let alone 3.
Great deal for those who find them though.
#15
try their newly opened branch in Kenya!
probably you'll find 1 or 2 left (but refurb probably)

if anyone finds stock anywhere, please post...
#16
Just rang Richmond store who said the system shows 1 in the country but none within a 10 mile radius.
#17
nothing :(

i used to work at pc world. you'll be lucky to find anything aswhen i was there, staff allways grab the price list each morning and bargains are nabbed by them. will be intersted to see if anyone gets one.

You are assuming that's the case. My guess (not that's the word guess and this is not fact) is that there is a small quantity of stock available somewhere or it's an error as the page states it's a web only offer.

Your explanation still doesn't explain why this is a scam, perhaps you need to revisit the meaning of the word again before using it.

A scam is essentially a confidence trick designed to motivate you to a course of action. If I offered to sell a say a bike for £1, you called and I said it had been sold but you could have another for £100 then welcome to the dixon's scam.

Possibly yes they may have had stock but this is a question of form.To my knowledge this process of posting non existent offers has been standard form for this company for 10 years on the web and since the 70's in-store.

It works because there are also a steady stream of gullible Marks.

Are you from the real hustle or something? I think you have been watching too many films/tv.

Bare in mind we are talking about a FTSE 250 listed company here, not some dodgy bloke on a market stall. Do you really think they would employ these tactics over a £50 netbook? No me neither.

The reality is that it probably was in stock and someone, somewhere has got themselves a bargain and it's now out of stock. No conspiracy theories, no scams or anything.

So where is this "1" for the entire country?

Easy now people... i used to work for DSG (a long time ago) and i can tell you that this will be a human error, someone ticked a box that shouldn't have been ticked etc... also they update the website twice a day, so if if it was instock this morning and sold out by midday, we wont know about it until about 4 pm

Shame

Even if it was in available to reserve I wouldn't waste my time travelling down there, they never reserve anything at my local PC World. Twice I have gone to pick up a reservation and twice the numpties knew nothing about it and the item was no longer in stock.

The person from Richmond branch said the system shows 1 but he would have to check each region/area to locate it. It wasn't near me so told him to save his time.

Just find your nearest store on saynoto0870 and ask them to check.

"Sorry, this item is not available for reservation in any of our stores near milky way.

If possible, please enter a different location below or proceed to the basket to check home delivery options for your item."

Couldn't find it asswell :)

Lol, I'm with you mate. It amazes me how often people run to the defense of multi-million pound companies! Are people really so conditioned and blinkered these days that they run to the defense of a HUGE company rather than their fellow citizens!? :(
#33
I'm all for absolutely leathering a company when deserved. Calling Dixons "scammers" (yes that word was actually used folks!) because they don't have any stock is quite frankly ludicrous. Such a ridiculous comment.

Anyway, I won't be posting in this thread anymore. Be careful that Dixons don't scam you ladies and gentlemen, even though you haven't given them your money (yes really!).
#34
i agree, they do this all the time. Its a Scam. Dont care if there in the FTSE 250 big companies Scam you, eg Remember Robert Maxwell, Enron etc
#35
None non where near me either !
#36
"Bare in mind we are talking about a FTSE 250 listed company here, not some dodgy bloke on a market stall"

That's hilarious I think you'll find ALL the banks we bailed out two years ago were FTSE 100 companies do you trust any of them? of course retailers do these thinks all the time. They have a post on this site and maybe others, 36 people have posted and most seem to have contacted the website or store and who knows how many more have done the same. Maybe a thousand people looked at the post and maybe noted that PC World have been selling cheap selling cheap notebooks. Not bad publicity for NO confirmed sales(it's cost them nothing) and a rumoured ONE notebook in the whole country at that price! I think the market stall seems quite respectable compared to them.
