But he's posting it for all to see, as the previous thread wouldn't be seen by everybody - if the poster updates it to include you for credit wouldn't that nip this in the bud? :)

PS - This was also advertised late in December 2008 as well.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

good price cheers to op

Asda one is + £4.95 delivery vs Amazon free. Also only has 512MB memory vs Amazon has 1GB.
Much better deal at Amazon.
I have one and love it .Replaced Linux with WinXP, does everything I want in a mini package. Even drives my 22 inch display when I'm at my desk.
Bargain at £199
#12
512 ram!! not 1gb as Op has posted!
#13

The one in the title has 1gb memory where as the one from asda only has 512mb memory.
Cheers will keep an eye on asda's prices for the one gb model

This is a great deal for buying the hardware to update it to XP as linux is not too user friendly still.
The 1GB or ram and 120GB Hard drive make it run XP really well. You won't be disspointed.

But of you want more power, and will pay a bit more, the next versions of these netbooks will have the Dual core Atom CPU. But this one is good value and does teh job very well.
#16
Great deal, would've gone for this had I not picked up a netbook last week!

I've been looking at these for a while, hoping they would drop away from proper laptop prices. This one ticks all the boxes for me except for the OS. How do you get Win XP onto one of these ? Do you need to buy a new licence ? Do you then need an external CD/DVD drive to install it via a USB port ?
#18
Easiest way to install xp is via an external optical drive but it is doable via a usb key.

I got this b4 xmas and i think its great, it even came supplied with a 160Gb hdd.

Battery life is, at best, ok - get somewhere between 2.25 and 3.00 hours.

And you would need to buy a copy of xp, unless you had an old machine kicking around.

Keep linux get firefox and open office all good to go! :-D

I'm not very good with computers, and a very basic user, but i bought this system just for messing around online, skype and private messages etc. but then later found out that the operating system linux does not work with the microsoft messaging. I'm sure its basics for most people but for the technophobe needs highlighting.

i have got the chance of one of these, for £110, only been turned on twice and a few photos added , never used on internet and only 3months old. but fancy the samsung nc10. only going to use it for surfing and emails etc..is it worth spending the extra £200 ish or stick to the £110 acer

At that price I would definitely stick to the £110 Acer. Where are you getting the £110 Acer from? If you go for the NC10, I wouldn't mind having it at that price if it's the same as this :)
#24
Unless you'r wanting to do touch typing or the like, I'd save the money and go for the Acer.
I have the SSD version of the Acer with 1/2 GB ram, a cutdown version of XP on it and its really good for emails and surfing. Love it.

Aah . I'll offer £120 delivered for it if you change your mind - depending on condition, etc of course.

If it has Linux installed Kaspersky (unless it's the Linux version?) won't be compatible. Linux is a much more secure OS than Windows - read Linux Security for Beginners.

Yes, you can use a mouse - I think you'll need a USB one though.

This has now been reduced to £189 on the amazon website

In my opinion a belting deal!

Anyone know what the difference is between the A150-A model on Amazon, and the A150-L model on other sites? Does the A or L indicate how much ram comes with it? As that's the only difference I can spot.

Thanks.
