Seems decent to me...was Play.com offering this cheaper previously?

I think people are comparing it to this:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/261343/acer-aspire-one-a150l-1-6ghz-1gb-12

But as you have pointed out, your one comes with XP which usually adds £50+. However, does your price include VAT?

Yes, I'll update the OP. £199.99 plus VAT

Thanks for pointing out, rep added

Funny how the temp goes down to minus 15 then slowly starts rising again? It would be interesting to know why people were voting this cold....
#6
People just glancing over the deal and voting without taking the time to read details in full I'd imagine.
#7
This is a good deal, very nice piece of kit.

but I think I will wait for the 6 cell version, Great deal anyhow.
#8
It went down to -35 at the beginning. BBRRRR
#9
are costco only stocking this model or the do they have the linux version too?

I only saw this one, don't think they have any other versions
#11
very good deal, I am just waiting for the new version (I am sure there is one) which will have a longer life battery. Voted Hot
#12
Voted hot, but if I was buying, I would give this one a miss and wait for the new six cell battery config which should be out v soon.
#13
Only good if you have a costo card though :(
#14
Voted hot. I wish Costco would open here in Northern Ireland!
#15
Very good price and an excellent little netbook.
#16
but for just £715 pounds more you could buy a new macbook!... ;)
only thing i dont like about these ones are the weird trackpad buttons. guess u get used to it...
then theres the build quality to look out for!!?
#17
I've got the white one - lovely build quality. I di have the blue one but it had a faulty wireless card in it - although you do currently have to avoid standby and hibernate as this can knock out the wireless. That said, I turn mine off completely and it boots in around 90 secs....;-)

For amother £60 - I can get a 6-cell battery, decent glare free 10" screen, 160GB HDD, 1.3Mp Webcam netbook - the new Samsung NC10

AND I don't have to buy a £25 Costco card!

This is a poor deal!
#19
I would prefer a 10" screen but meh its alright.
#20
The battery life on these are poooor. There are plenty other netbooks for similar prices that have much longer battery lives.
#21
good price but I'm waiting for the model after the next one. It is bound to have even better battery life than whatever model they release next.

In that case why dont you help us all by pointing the finger at other similar netbooks with better battery life. Nothing on my radar worth mentioning.

None sense.. I would give you £500, and please bring me a NC10 now. Can you? It's totally non sense and unfair to compare an existing product with a future prodcut that hasn't been launched yet.

NC10 is brilliant but have been delayed for a while. According to Amazon, it won't be on sale until the 16th Nov. It could be delayed again.

I am sure that other netbook manifacturers will give better deals for their products when NC10 is finally available.

I think you will find that the Costco price of £234 is minus the VAT.

This has an 8.9 scrren and isn't even a good deal never mind a great one.

I just got a Recon from Curry's 15.4, 2 gig of RAM 120gig HD. for the same price.

Like comparing apples and bananas. Some people just dont get it, look up the phrase netbook/netbrowser. Your currys laptop with it's free wheelbarrow doest quite fit the bill.

Good deal, I'll be waiting for the NC10.. but heat & rep added... I wouldn't bother taking any notice of these other idiots!

I never understand why people compare netbooks to laptops.

tho the net book looks like a smaller laptop that is where the similarity ends (dosen't it)

I want a net book for surfing the web wirelessly round the hous eand possibly doing the odd spreadsheet. but i'm waiting for one with decent battery life below £150

this looks liek a good deal to me, just not for me.
#31
This little Net book is the best one i have tested so far. It's has won loads of awards and has some great reviews. Yes it's not a fully fledged laptop. We all know that. So let’s not go down that route. The screen size is just big enough to use. The screen is clear and bright. The HDD and 1Gb Ram make this run fast under XP. The wireless is excellent and I streamed a HD movie over Wi-Fi all over the house without the slightest hiccup. It runs Office 2007 and Photoshop OK. Internet browsing is good as is email. It connects to a large LCD HD TV screen or projector without a problem via VGA. The speakers are a bit tinny. But connect to headphones or speakers and the sound is great. So overall for this price it’s a great litte netbook to buy. It's the only model i would spend my money on so far, and someone else's money.

I have been looking to buy one of these for a while now and this is the model I was after and its a great price, if you are a Costco member and there's one nearby. It may seem like a dumb question but what colour is best? Does the white one look dirtier and discolour easily?, does the blue one scratch more and/or look worse from fingerprints, etc ?.. would be interested in hearing the views of anyone who has one of these and which colour they would recommend.Thanks.
#33
Costco only has this in blue I think.

However I am confused at the price as when I looked in the Edinburgh Costco recently it was £287 inc VAT so have they dropped the price? Costco doesn't usually drop prices until it is end of line and then it becomes £xx.97+VAT.

At this price I could be tempted. I will check my local store and report back here to see if it is a UK wide price.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks back. Was going to wait for the new model with the 6-cell battery, but decided against doing that because of the increase in size and weight that goes with it.

It's a great little netbook - exactly right for using away from home for browsing the net and other general stuff. It's not intended as a full desktop/laptop replacement (it never was - though some posters here still haven't latched on to that) but it's very small, perfectly formed, and absolutely spot on for holidays, where you don't want the weight and bulk of a normal laptop. Fits neatly into a hotel safe, too.

The XP version with the 120gb drive is superb - well worth the extra over the Linux version IMHO, but a mattter of choice.

PS Tesco still have them at £269, plus points, Quidco etc, if you can't get to a Costco. I see there's also a £10 e-voucher offer on.

It was £287 as you say, I saw it a few weeks ago at that price. They must've checked other retailers and dropped it.

Give your local one a ring to check.
