Don't the Acers have a poor battery life - if so then the 120GB hard drive will be a problem.
Still for the price, you can overlook a few "foibles".
Anyone know a cheap (legal) source of XP as the GF needs an XP version as her job REQUIRES MS Office

The blue version is actually the same price: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5825963/Acer-Aspire-One-A150L-Intel-Atom-N270-1-6GHz-512MB-120GB-8-9-Linux-NetBook-Blue/Product.html

It's the blue version with 1GB RAM that is £20 more :-)

i have the blue one

battery is fine, just don't expect it to last all day

does all i need it to do

first one was dodgy - i sent it back cos boot up times were very slow (5mins) - replacement is fine and dandy

got mine from amazon for a touch more than this deal

re. OP. Exact same model (512mb RAM) is available in blue for the same price from play. The blue one which you referred comes with 1gb of RAM for the additional £20 (also avail. in white too)

There's a version with a six-cell battery on it's way.

It's still pre-order on american amazon, but it also includes a 160gb hdd and 1gb of ram. Shame they don't ship it here.

The six-cell battery does stick out a bit, but who cares. For ease of use, the acer aspire is head and shoulders above the eee and all other netbooks I've tried. The keyboard and trackpad is so simple to use.

Blue is also available at this price. Both only have 512mb of ram, but it's easily upgradable.

thanks for the notes guys!

I heard the Aspire One sounds really loud even when not under load? Can owners comment on the operating volume as I am used to macs and silent computing. Also has anyone OS X86'd one of these?

there is some fan noise - not really a problem for me as i normally use it when watching tv as well

apparently there is a workaround which means you cna disable the fan below, say, 55 deg celsius which would obviously cut down on the noise - if i was particularly bothered i would do that, but i'm not, so for the moment i'm just keeping it at it's standard configuration.

as for x86 - is that welsh?
