The ultrathin Acer Aspire One D250 red netbook features a 10.1" bright LED screen, 1.66GHz Intel® Atom™ N450 processor, 1GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Other features of the D250i include integrated Wi-Fi and webcam and Windows 7® Starter Edition.

Seems a good price for a decent quality netbook. And it's Windows 7.

And 286 Clubcard points if you collect those.

***** Title says N270 CPU...BUT their description says N450. It is available in both from Acer Direct, so not sure which is correct. *****
Update - Called Customer Services to ask about CPU type. They are not sure! Could be either they say. Maybe if someone is in their local Tesco today, they could confirm either way if it's in stock at the store too?

Don't forget to get cashback through Quidco 3% = £4.30 if tracked. This will make price down to £138.90

is there a noticeable difference between a 270 and a 450? after all it's only a netbook, which is kinda limited in power anyways?

On power, no not really. On battery, a little maybe 2+ hours more.

Either way, an upgrade to 2gb would be the only real performance upgrade that would be quite noticeable in netbooks.

Do you NEED Word? OpenOffice is free and will read Word/Excel though there may be some formatting issues.

So where does it state that it was 20% more?

I can only see was £299 then £215.20, neither price being 20% more than £140?
#18
Just got a blue one... also had a few tesco clubcard vouchers expriing so another £10 off... and 3% quidco :)

Now to sell my dell mini 9!!
#19
can the ram be upgraded in these....great price, thinking getting for dd for her 6th birthday. Whats windows 7 starter like. Im an old xp guy myself
#20
I thinkn that with Windows 7 Starter you can't play DVDs in Windows Media Player (but apparently VLC works and is free), you can't use multiple monitors and you can't change the desktop image from the Microsoft logo. I suspect that these won't affect many netbook users... that's what I am hoping anyway. Any more info welcome.
#21
can you play pc games on this one???
#22
Cheers OP ordered

PS dont rely on Tescon specs (I ordered a 1545 the other day, spec sheet said no webcam, however came with one)

Just hit and hope I'm afraid oO
#23
Er... just started checking prices online etc.

D255 is possible for £166 from bestbuy .... using a coupon and 10% from quidco

The coupon code is netbook20 and give 20% off - all the details are on quidco.

Bought one of these as well - will compare and see which is better - from what i can tell D255 only came out October last yr so a newer model.

Being a netbook using an Intel Atom you can get away with playing solitaire but no proper graphical games...

Not likely unless you are into Othello and the like.

From another poster... this info is useful about what is missing from Windows 7 Starter

Just looking at the BestBuy one - surely you are better paying less than £20 more for the extra hard disk (250GB) and double capacity battery? Of course you may not use the battery or the hard disk in which case maybe not!
#30
oh... i see what u mean... and its less then £20 more as well.. as 20% off the price....and a further 10% off that too... hmm...prob about £13 more!

indeed . thats my thinking .. plus also a newer machine and a better inbuilt webcam too

Not sure you got me - you said you can get one for £166 from BestBuy. Indeed you can if Quidco works but I was just saying it may be better to spend the extra £20 on top of that to get the 250GB model

EDIT : I see you did get my drift whilst I was writing. Personally the better battery is well worth the extra money.

RCUK, How do you get it to £166, I've ordered mine from tesco but considering cancelling if I can get it to £166... on best buy it is currently at £279... 20% coupon reduces it by £56 and 10% quidco (I'm guessing thats on the £223, after the coupon) which reduces it by £22, so its around £200... hope you can clarify, thanks.
#33
umm... acer aspire d255 is 183.99 with the code... ignore quidco alot of people have had issues getting paid from best buy...

the 250gb version is 199.99 from best buy. so this is a brilliant and no-risk deal.
#34
the machine (160gb one) is £230 ... so :

Machine = £230
20% off = £184
10% quidco = £166.

Was just comparing like for like machines almost.

But given that the better spec machine works out at £180 inc quidco - £14 for 90gb extra hard drive and double battery is a winner.

Yes - but what is your point? The pink one is £240. Less 20% and 10% possible Quidco

Fantastic deal ordered one even although I don't need. However, it's a bargain and I can't resist a bargain so just ordered it anyway. Voted HOT, HOT, HOT.
