I'd be getting the Asus. 1 less USB, but has larger 6-cell battery.
#8
The Asus is also available in blue and white for £199.97.

What I don't get is why the pink Acer has a larger capacity battery to the other Acers.
#9
I have had the ASUS for about 7 months. Excellent build quality and a non scratch finish which I like. Battery life is great too, quotes 9 hours but I get about 6-7 with mixed use.

It also has windows 7 not XP

I've seen these in person and i would say the acer 255 has a much better LCD screen (led backlight) compared to the asus. The Asus has a 6 cell battery though! Don't know why the pink one is posted because it's £229... Anyone else got the d255 in White or red? Opinions on it and battery life? Cheers
#12
Seriously tempted, altho would like to see them in person to compare (the acer black vs asus black). 6-cell sounds better but tassoguy's comment about screen would make me want to see it even more so

With the exception of the pink one, all thjese have XP (which is fine but not supported forever).

John Lewis (out of stock right now) had some of the colours and these all have dual Win7 and Android OS's and a 2-year warranty for under £200.

Also the red one is available at lasky's for £198 (plus Quidco of about £6).

Curry's offloading old stock per-chance?
#14
Yeah thelatics. Sounds like offloading to me... I'm sure if you stick win 7 ultimate on these they will fly without all the acer/Asus bloatware. Guess it's a case of better LCD on the acer vs asus with bigger battery guys!
#15
They will probably fly with Win 7 on, but then that's over another £100!
#16
Is this better or worse than the Acer deal at HMV?

It seems it depends on what you search for...

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-one-d255-red-07706830-pdt.html

The one you found is for the D255 based on the N550 (dual core), as opposed to all the others (and the one above) which is based on the Atom 450 (faster clock speed, slower because of the lack of dual-coreness)..

W7 starter on both...

Be aware don't think the discount code can be used if you intend to collect instore. That's the way it read on the website when I looked last night.
#19
Looks pretty good, i've been tempted to get a netbook for awhile now.
#20
can you still trade in an old laptop for £50 off?
#21

#22
£190 for a 3 cell

Nah.

ok correct me if im wrong, but 1gb ram is seriously not enough, after virus scanner + firewall + msn messenger + web browser + media player running, it will freeze constantly, and will struggle to handle flash media and high definition video hmm.
#25
Not bad, I'd find a 6 cell for £200ish personally but that is dependant on your needs

it cant but if you threaten to walk out and buy online instead they'll cave cos instructions for Xmas are as follows "NO DEAL WALKS", so feel free to ask for free stuff thrown in.

also it is an end of line model but the range change with netbooks/laptops happens every 13 weeks and then new ones get phased in, old ones go clearance and get reduced.

Not true yesterday when I went in Currys in Plymouth ! Was going to buy a Toshiba NB250-108 that was £239.99, but on 2nd December the increased this to £249.99.....I explained I could get it online for £228.99 (with free delivery) so if he would honour the £239.99 I would buy it there and then, and he refused ! I told him I was also looking for an iPod dock too, and he still refused.....so I walked !

Thanks

Mine arrived yesterday, they look worth a lot more than the money I'd paid for them! The colour coating on the cases has been solidly put on! Will be checking them out this weekend hopefully

So for anyone interested this deal is STILL on and you still get the £10 off using the code. If you need a decent netbook this is most certainly the best for its price range (delivery took just 1 day - FREE delivery also!) :D

Code doesnt work now
#31
Had a good look at this but doesnt seem as good as the bestbuy deal? Going for £200 with 250 GB hard drive and a six cell battery, add in the 10% quidco and its the same price as this model (both acer aspire one). Is it just me or does this seem like a no brainer...
