good deal for a 10inch model and xp. i reckon this is over £300 elsewhere.

Great find . I am thinking of buying 10" netbook for less than £220 mark.

Please advise if anyone else selling this model cheaper?

Plus I would like to have some comment on this model from Techies on HUKD.

ebuyer have this one for £200

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158934

its basically a re badged HPmini 1000 (which is a very very good net book and one of the most popular ones sold in the states.)

i would not touch an acer with a barge -pole as their customer service is shocking,

I had a acer 150L about 6 months ago which developed a fault with its power switch. over time it became looser and looser and eventually became stuck under the frame of the net book casing. When i asked acer to repair it they said that they wanted £50 up front before they would even look at it and then they would give me a quote for the repair. If i was not happy with the quote they would still keep the £50 to cover their admin costs. When i told them this was in breach of the sales of goods act they basically said tough as that was their terms and conditions of their warranty. I then notified play.com who sold me the netbook and they offered me a full refund. I would therefore never buy an acer product again

Any techy types know if this is the later model with the 6 cell battery (5-6 hours as opposed to 2-3)?
#6
1) What model name is this? Is this the Acer Aspire One A150 or D150? Because the D150 is the only one with a N280 processor i think and a 10.1 inch screen!!

2) What size battery does this have?

3) Is there any online voucher or code that gets any discount?

Great find though!!!

I have this laptop although I bought in Dubai for £250 inclusive of an external DVD writer. Mine is the 6 cell version and works well. It is pretty nippy and the I've had the battery last at least 6 hours. Well worth the money. My model number is D250-1BW

I think this is different one. 160GB vs 60GB on Compaq. But I don't know what model Acer is though.

fgevans was just pointing out that you can get the compaq one for £200, not that it is the same item.

OK . I would defintiely buy the compaq one if it has larger hard drive and glossy screen.

I've never had an Acer laptop personally but a girlfriend did and she was forever having problems with it but it did have Windows Vista on it but much of her problems were to do with the amount and quality of rubbish software Acer had put on it.

Just returned an Acer Aspire One 8.9", 160Gb hard drive died after 2 weeks...
Hopefully will get my refund, but will not be buying another one...

COLD !!!!!!! not for the price but for the brand, Acer are terrible , the biggest bunch of thieving money grabbers ive ever had the displeasure to deal with , never again , if you buy anything Acer you need your head examining.

apologies to the OP if it was a different brand this would be a great deal.
#16
Acer that bad? I am now thinking of abandoning my plan to grab one of those.
#17
Yes they are !!

my d150 came with an 7-8 hour battery and xp (but no 3g sim card reader) so it should be the same.

Not keen on glossy reflective displays in a netbook and battery life is quite a big deal as well. Does anyone know if this comes with the 6-cell 59Wh (5800 mah) battery, the 6-cell 49Wh (4400 mah) battery or the 3-cell 24Wh (2200 mah) battery ?
#20
my experience with acer has put me off for life - i will never buy a product from them again..

when i say rebadged i mean that compaq are basically the same company as HP. the compaq 720 is basically identical to the HP mini 1000.

the reason i have recomended the compaq is because the HP version had very very good reviews ande hence you are getting a HP mini for very little money (the Hard drive is small though but 60Gb should be ample for most people)

My family has 3 Acer 9" netbooks
all solid and safe and fine
Acer just passed Dell as second biggest Laptop manufacturer
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0CGN/is_n137/ai_20895352/

At that price - I personally suspect that this does not come with a 6 cell

But you will always be able to get third party batteries for these from
DX extreme _ I got a 9 cell for £38 delivered

The brand orientated monkeys will not buy third party stuff
cause they have poor risk assessment and are spending money on Mortgage protection and the like
They usually go off and rave about the quality of the anti- bacterial LC10 three knicker netbbooks:whistling:

I'm no fan of Acer - but the Ebuyer deal is not a good one - the Compaq machine has a measily 60GB drive which is a 1.8" PATA ZIF type - so zero chance of ever upgrading to a larger capacity - that's why they are offloading that model so cheaply.
#23
60 GB is ample for these type of machines if you ask me.

the majority of buyers of net books have no intention of upgrading. if you want to upgrade you buy a laptop not a net book.

this is a good deal - if you can see an equivalent model for cheaper then please let us all know
#24
the eBuyer £200 deal is a good spec, I would like a bigger HD, but no good for me purely because the Compaq uncomprehensibly has no VGA out!
#25
asdas website is shocking by the way

there are no technical details for the model at all, doesnt even specify the number!
#26
OK, mine's just arrived. It's a D150-1Bw, with unfortunately the 2200 mah battery.
