the one you will receive comes with a stand like the V type stand below

http://hidekichi.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/470743_thumb.jpg

Also if you look at Ebuyer images it does not show an Optical S/PDIF port, I can confirm this version does have a Optical S/PDIF port, it is located next to the memory card reader slot, like the photo below (when you receive it you will find a white sticker over it with a little black plastic plug / cover in the packaging):

Please note this comes with Linux and not windows 7 :p

Surprised it includes MS Office trial + Works etc.?
#3
Not that I want to start an OS War, but it's running Linux, not Windows - just so you all know.
#4
long awaited...
#5
Not bad, i paid £150 from insight with 1gb ram and 160gb drive!
#6
They also have the Windows 7 version for £239.99 - a better buy for most I think!

You can get the Logitech EX100 from Amazon for £17.99 - far better than anything that they bundled.

That manufacturer's part number doesn't seem to match up with the specs? :?

I've kicked off a discussion for this product to ask eBuyer to confirm as your right, the manufacturer number does definitely not match against the hardware spec.

Great stuff Scotty Boy

You dont have a good link for getting Flash on one of these revos running ubuntu do you.

i got one of the 3610s from Insight a while ago - its great for xbmc - but missing having BBC Iplayer ?

Nice stuff Scotty Boy

Just thought I would add I have used the N230 version (single core) with latest Nvidia driver and DivX7 installed and it can play 720p and 1080p (at FullHD it did lag a little at times when alot of things were going on)
#19
Out of interest, has anybody on here got the Boxee working on the 3610 with optical out? I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, but Boxee just produces a loud static noise through optical. Works fine with XBMC though.
#20
For £278.80 you can get this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/172708, with 4Gb RAM, 500HDD and Win7. Not bad deal too.
#21
These things still can't handle online streaming HD though can they?

I don't but I thought there was one available to download directly from Adobe - have you taken a look recently at the Flash Player Beta downloads?

What would be the limiting factor? I can't see anything in the specs that would limit it.
#26
I believe using windows 7 on it, means that it wont use the ION chip, and hence no HD streaming.
Not sure if thats it or not, but use linux and it will stream HD just fine. Mine does :)
#27
Nothing on this stopping you streaming on windows. I stream 1080p mkvs all the time to it.

Windows XBMC will use the ION chip won't it?

Link doesn't work properly, click on Configurations and then R3600-L
#31
According to the Acer site, ALL R3610 configs come with Win 7, there's no Linux option for that range.

So confused, but I ordered one anyway, no matter which one it actually is I still feel I'm onto a winner.

It looks like it's an eBuyer exclusive, they've obviously started to see the orders come in from us HUKD folk and have posted the following on their homepage.

From the R3610's page on Acer.co.uk

Operating System - Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (and underneath) Linpus™ Linux®

There's no way I can justify buying this. Can always hook the lappy up to the telly via hdmi, but I'm sorely tempted. Gonna be umming and ahhing this weekend

BTW, what's the easiest way to get W7 onto given that there's no optical drive?

buy the version that includes it...

or there are a number of links that tell you how to use a usb stick - just search.

Hi, can someone please clarify

(if you purchase your own copy of Windows, download the windows BIOS and flash it before you install windows)

Do I just download the ‘official’ bios (current one seems to be version P01.A4 , and it's the BIOS without the L at the end? ) and flash it ?

Then I boot from my windows 7 cd and do a normal install ?

(I did have a look at the link forums but was getting very confusing)

Many Thanks

Well HD internet streaming goes through the chipset which isn't very powerful meaning HD Youtube, Iplayer, websites, etc will stutter. I don't know if its fixable but most of the reviews I've read state that they are hoping for adope to come up with a new style of flash because the Revo can't handle HD flash.

I have the Aspire One netbook which uses the same chipset iirc and can confirm it won't stream HD flash without stuttering.

Oh and LinpusLinux OS is terribly limited so you are going to want to change the OS or get the W7 version.
