Cheers, Scotty Boy![/FONT]

got the £199.99 one myself and its absolutely wicked

:p

for £71.57 more to get double hard disk and double ram (which costs £35 each, they annoyingly give you 2 sticks of 1gb in the 2gb versions) Windows 7 and wireless keyboard / mouse ain't bad :D

Hmm. Tempted to use this a HTPC/Media Server... Should be good enough to run 1080p, and DTS...

If you use the GPU hardware acceleration it can run 1080p with no problems, even without 1080p is not bad. 720p no problem at all :-D

Can this run dual display?

I want a PC to use for internet use, music, films and work applications. Is this a good option?

yes, from what I know the more ram the better for Adobe CS3, high definition MKV both 720p and 1080p will run fine on this (if you are going to run 1080p use GPU hardware acceleration) :p

I've always considered Ebuyer better known and more reliable than Play! :whistling:

been watching this the past few days on ebuyer. they started droping the price a yesterday. hoping they go a bit further, or else oyyy.com will be getting my order, they offer free delievery to northern ireland, whilst ebuyer wanna charge me £9.00 to £13.00 for posting it. iv never used oyyy.com, but will have to wait and see

Site says there's NO optical drive.

Site says there's NO optical drive.

cd / dvd drive = optical drive

look further down the page and you find this

Rear:
Four USB 2.0 ports
DC-in jack
Ethernet (RJ-45) port
D-Sub VGA port
HDMI™ port
eSATA port
Optical S/PDIF port

It is the same with the £199.99 linux model (2gb ram 250gb hdd no wireless keyboard/mouse no windows 7) and those definitely come with Optical S/PDIF unless you are really talking about a cd/dvd drive then nope :p

One of the big difference between the R3600 and the R3610 other than one is single core and other is dual core, is the R3610 has S/PDIF and the R3600 doesn't. it is located next to the memory card slot.

It says 4Gb of ram but lots of reports say only 3Gb of ram is usable. Anyone know if this is the case?

If you're using a 32 bit operating system then you'll only have access to 3 (and a bit) GB. If you use a 64 bit operating system then the full 4 GB is no problem (assuming the device has 4GB installed).

Short of Amazon and the supermarkets, I don't think they come much bigger than ebuyer.

I'm considering using this as a main PC; does anyone know how a dual-core atom performs in day-to-day tasks (not interested in gaming)?

Plus the built in graphics adapter will use a bit of memory as well.

You only get a 28 day warranty with Play (as it's based in Jersey & not the UK)

Better off buying from Ebuyer :whistling:

It comes with a HDMI cable??
#27
I have heard mixed reviews about these playing back 1080P content.
Can anyone who owns one of these confirm its smooth or stutter?
I am talking 1080p with a DTS sound track.
& if your feeling helpful TrueHD playback too

The reviews you have read, are the users playing back the 1080p files with GPU hardware acceleration? without it does ok until there are lots of movements.

If you are thinking about using xbmc, they are currently working on this.

I think DivX7 has and Media Player classic both has this feature. :)

I donno about the Windows 7 version but the Linux version, no. The picture above really was to show the size of the adaptor. (also with this deal you will receive the same wireless keyboard and mouse as above) Im not so sure about the stand though, I think I comes with the V type stand and not the round transparent one.

Are you absolutely sure this is the case? That may be true of other systems but been many comments about an inbuilt limit on the Revo.

I have 4GB RAM in mine running Ubuntu with PAE and only shows 3GB in OS, despite boot screen showing 4GB installed.

I have the R3610 that came with Linpus? I think. Anyway installed Ubuntu and running XBMC, plays 1080P + DTS without issue.

Provided the media player supports the ION GPU accelaration it should have no problems.

Has anyone found the Wireless Keyboard & Mouse available seperately. Been looking on and off for a while and have yet to find it.

As usual, you can't get the same specification without Windows as you can with it, so as not to reveal the level of the Windows Tax.

Actually you can, £230.14 for the Windows 7 version of the specs mentioned above in Maplin.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/604717/aspire-revo-r3610-atom-n330-dual-co
the only difference is that the Windows 7 version, firstly comes with Windows 7 (derr :p) and secondly comes with wireless keyboard and mouse for about £25 if you go through Topcashback or Quidco

I was actually just stating the specs so anyone reading it will know that it is not the linux equalivalent of this deal if any one is wondering :)
#36
I agree it's closer, but it's still not like for like because of that keyboard/mouse (and coming from a different supplier). Microsoft doesn't want anyone to know how much OEM Windows costs.
#37
I got the 3610 on 2 February. The hard drive has failed this weekend so well chuffed!!!!!!!! It starts up and makes this pathetic kind of squeak as tho the hard drive wants to spin up but cant, i cant even get into the BIOS or choose a boot device by pressing F12. Looks like its well ******!!!!!!!!!
#38
I bought this for c.£268ish delivered from pricelover.com - arrived on Sat, very pleased. Having said that, I would have prob paid the extra £3 to buy from a more established company like ebuyer (I'd never heard of pricelover and only bought from them because their head office is near).

https://www.pricelover.com/product/Acer_AS_R3610_Atom_N330_4GB_ram_500GB_No_Optical_drive_nVidia_GeForce_9400_up_to_896MB_Revo_Wireless_keyboard_mouse_Wireless_NIC_Mi/92.NVFYZ.U2N/

Doesn't say anything about the OS on the site, but I can confirm it's Win 7 64-bit.

 I guess your right, these are Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, there are 2 mentions about this this on ebuyer reviews.

If you can't get into the BIOS then something more fundamental than the hard drive has failed.
