Try ringing them they may offer to refund the difference as you could just return it

Still overpriced for an underpowered system. Now if it had Gigabit Ethernet and eSATA, that would at least make for good connectivity. But as it is, you can get a netbook for this price, complete with Windows license, battery and screen.
#10
How does this compare to the 3610 revo with dual core with hyperthreading?
#11
The Atom D525 is dual core right?

My 3610 has eSATA and Gigabit Ethernet so i suppose that ive answered my own Question (above).
#13
is this better than the MSI laptop for 249.99 ? well - I see that there isn't a screen included ? anything else ? apart from HDD I don't care about .

The wireless mouse and keyboard are pretty poor, so you will be better getting your own anyway.

Suggest you buy one then surreptitiously plant it on a shelf in Tescos before she arrives.
#18
This would be absolutely perfect for my XBMC needs if it wasn't the optical output bein on the FRONT of the unit! How stupid is that?!
#19
wonder if they will reduce the price on the Win 7 model ;)
#20
can intel atom run 1080p ?
Not talking about Apple 1080 trailers proper 20gb films in HiDef?

If all she wants to see is the box then just buy it and if she doesnt want it aftrer seeing the box then return it for a refund.

don't know about weekly, i think this is the first time it's price dropped since christmas. i've been watching it too :)

If you use XBMC, for example, it takes advantage of offloading the graphics processing (via the DXVA2 Hardware Acceleration option in the video settings menu) to the nVidia ION graphics chip which then plays the HD MKVs, thats how this unit is capable of playing the 20gb 'backups' youre referring to, I have one and it works perfectly, well the 3610 model anyway.

True - for a while last year there seemed to be one almost every other week though. Good to see this unit drop down in price though.

Anyone know of a system like this that has HDMI and optical outputs on the rear I/O? I refuse to run an optical cable out the front of this to my amp.
#28
For anyone planning on using Boxee with this: I think the graphics chip on all versions of the 3700 is the ION2 (the description is vague on this Linux one though), which can cause problems with Boxee, it being heavily dependant on Flash. Check the Boxee forums for stuff on ION2 if you're so inclined anyway.

I have my revo stuck to the back of my tv out of view for what its worth if you can do the same?

Its a stupid shape to have on display anyway...!

XBMC Beats Boxee hands down too....and im not trolling :)

Yeah XBMC beats Boxee by a mile!

Can't mount it behind my TV as the TV is already mounted on the wall. Front-mounted optical just seems like a stupid design error on an otherwise decent bit of kit.

Very good price, this thing has revolutionized my tv/film watching. I love it

Maybe
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Foxconn-NetBox-NT-330I-MCP7A-ION-Barebone/dp/B003DM98HI

That's a bare bones but you can find ones already built up too.
#33
Watch out without a wireless keyboard and mouse ( compatible on linux) this set will be useless to use on a LCD TV.

My TV is wall mounted, my Revo rests on top of the wall mount between the TV and the wall. So it's not 'mounted' to the TV but it's hidden out of the way behind it still.

Could connect this up to it.. but it means more space and another tenner

my revo + xbmc + MASSIVE media library is awesome, cant believe i used to have hundreds of vhs/dvds around.....its the best 'gadget' ive ever put together!!!!
#37
I have the previous Revo so feel kinda qualified here ;-)

I wouldn't recommend this device for any sort of serious gaming, but as someone already said this KICKS ASS when it comes to HD playback.

I have installed Windows 7 and the XBMC and this makes watching movies amazing - the box is SILENT. Anyone who has used an XBox 360 or PS3 will know those devices make some serious noise, even more annoying with quieter films.

I'd buy this again but my current Revo still works amazingly - this is a great deal!
#38
P.S The Linpus OS is really Sh*t!

Install Ubuntu Netbook Remix or Windows 7 on here immediately :)
#39
Ahh new this would come around soon enough... have already got the 3610 all working perfect and have been waiting to get a second for another room.

Will go nicely with the dsn-232 and Samsung drives I got yesterday... God I hate this site... Makes me spend a fortune! Feels like I am single handily propping up the UK economy!!

Heat added!
