Not a bad price for a good chromebook if you're on the hunt for one.

Doesn't say on Ebay/Argos what model this is.

did you even bother to look at it?
it says exactly what model it is right in the opening description

On the ebay page, you have to go down to the description, and it's not mentioned in the headline - and how many punters would know that Chromebook 11 is the model? (And there are usually several models within that heading)

A quick look on Argos main site reveals they sell 3 models this size. R11/CB3-111 and the op's.

Any thoughts on this for google apps work? (Mainly slides and docs). I'd been looking for a 4gb version, but they've held their prices pretty well.

Should I hold out for a 4gb or go for this as it's pretty cheap...

In terms of the version, it looks like the CB3-131 to me.

Likely to depend on how graphics heavy your documents are. If it's magazine layouts, well......but then again, nobody would use Google Docs for that sort of stuff.

I've been using the 2gb Haswell Celeron Acer Chromebook for the last few years. I think its great for basic day to day stuff. The only issues I run into is Chrome occasionally running out of memory and crashing certain tabs if I have 10-15 very media heavy tabs open (think embedded webpage videos, CNN type layouts etc). If you're a lighter user or don't run multiple browser tabs like that, 2GB should be fine. In an ideal world, I'd like to see a 4GB ram version with a Core M level processor in an 11.6" form factor. We can only hope...

Anyway, a couple of 14" alternatives:

2gb/768p

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-cb3-431-14-full-hd-chromebook-silver-10148244-pdt.html

A couple of Windows based 2-in-1s type knock offs for you to consider if you don't mind imports. I've no experience of them though, and build quality isn't likely to be that good...

Okay then. What's the model, from the title, wise ass? Acer make many types of Chromebook 11, if you knew anything about it. To know what one this is, you need the actual model number...

Is it Chromebook 11 CB3-111 or the Chromebook CB3-131 or the Chromebook 11 C740....etc

LOL. Zarjaz is right though - Acer have produced several Acer 11 Chromebooks over the years (at least 5 different 11" models off the top of my head - I even own one them!) and it's not immediately obvious which iteration this is. I had to Google the EAN number (ie barcode):

http://www.ean-search.org/perl/ean-search.pl?q=4713392480010

http://www.youshopping.co.uk/ean/code/4713392480010

Model Number: NX.G85EK.001

which takes you to this:

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-cb3-131-11-6-chromebook-white-10146905-pdt.html

So if you want new from Currys and not refurb'd from Argos, it's only £30 more....

Not yet, and no, it's not a stupid question as I also assumed Chromebooks would run Android apps and games but that's a 'coming soon' feature.

Not quite right - some Chromebooks can already run Android apps. But not many, and it will just take a while to get them all running them.

Yes, sorry, you are right, I kind of meant globally being able to 'run the apps by loading by the Play Store' (so it's not specific machines) and not sideloading or other methods. I guess it's a matter of time, but like many others when Chrome OS first came out I just kind of assumed they would run Android apps out of the box. When they can all run the apps, it will be a massive boost for the OS - a bit like with Windows Mobile or BB10, if they had actually stuck to what they said...

Many will run apps if you put your Chromebook on the developer channel, rather than the standard build.

A full list of those that run now (and instructions on how to enable this) can be viewed here

Just received mine, pristine condition very impressed. Looking forward to seeing how Chrome OS develops.

Got mine last week, had a C720 before that so knew what to expect. Everything works perfect and with play store coming to soon I couldn't ask for more for the price.

Not all Chromebooks will be able to run Android apps, many older models aren't going to get the Play Store update.

bought one for my son at Christmas. I couldn't believe how quick it was. searched YouTube for some guide to setting up printers etc. All setup with printer and Google docs. He loves it and takes it everywhere with him. I paid the same for it and it was worth every single penny.
