Does this one have Android apps yet?

How big are chromebooks normally, 11.6"? I bought that lenovo yoga 600 convertible laptop but that was far too small, in terms of screen size.

Need a second laptop to work from home with, which just needs fast browser performance, so a chromebook would be ideal; it just needs to be big enough for my monkey hands!

That doesn't expand the keyboard, and my work's virtual desktop really doesnt work when the screen is too small-zooming in wont help!

might go to currys and see if I can compare an 11/14/15.6 inch laptop in the flesh, before BF

Tempted... was waiting to see if the Acer R13 will be released in the U.K.

If it doesn't, it will soon. I've ordered the silver full HD one. Once you go full HD it's impossible to go back. The icing on the cake would've been AMOLED but at this price, RAM and this processor I'll be very happy. And the promise of android apps now or very soon is essential for me.

Plastic body?

No, aluminium.

Same price on Amazon for the gold version. I bought the last one an hour ago, but it's still available for pre order.

Does anyone know if this would be much of an upgrade from my C720 in speed terms? I know the screen will be a big improvement, but curious how much faster it is. The C720 is starting to show its age.

Android apps will be available for this model this year or next year. March 2017 was a date quoted to me by a guy from Google, but any date from a software company that is more than a month away should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I bought one of these for my son a last month. It feels quite solid and is quick enough for browsing.

The HP Chromebook 14 G4 is available for £240 delivered https://www.technoworld.com/hp-chromebook-14-g4-p5t65ea-abu-cel-n2940-4gb-32gb-14in-bt-cam-chrome-os?gclid=CLXwgpfw4s8CFQs8GwodMw4Apghttp://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-chromebook-14-g4-full-hd-chromebook-240-delivered-technoworld-2530053
It also has a full HD screen

How is the processor in this? I had an n2840 chromebook and it was so slow. The 2955\3205u ones are far better.

Is it this one?

Why are they saying it's not been released yet?

What do you want to do with it?

My daughter has a Toshiba Chromebook 2 which has a full HD screen, N2840 processor and 4GB of memory. That is also quick enough for browsing, homework, watching videos etc.

A fast CPU may also mean worse battery life, and noise from a fan.

Documents etc. the n2840 is considerably more slow with google drive. It might be fine for your daughter but I found it horrid.

Excellent little Chromebook. Need the 4gb to avoid slowdown with lots of tabs open, but this does the job. The only downside, for some, is no SD slot. But...you can insert an SD card using a USB adapter. Okay, not as neat, but does the job if you need to transfer files. I'm perfectly happy with the 32gb, plus 100gb Google cloud storage. Recommended.

Seems mostly decent, but the processor looks a bit meh compared to my old C720. I don't get the current desire to go low power on CBs and plugging silent operation as a huge bonus - the C720 fan is mostly not noticeable and I still get a very decent battery life after 3 years.

Dear laptop makers - Chromebook, 4GB, 32GB SSD, reasonable build quality, under £350, Full HD touchscreen, better processor than a C720, Android apps. I'll buy one. Until then, C720 it is.

Possibly because some people are done with Windows. Since I bought a Chromebook, my Windows i5 laptop has been obsolete.
I'm going to upgrade to this one due to the 4gb and full HD screen, plus it's aluminium.
It's got decent reviews too.

Does anybody know if this would suit my need of flicking between 4 tabs with zero slowdown (WordPress, Twitter and 2 image-heavy web pages)?

It won't be used all the time as generally work on beast of a home PC, but I need something 1 day per week which will function very quickly and smoothly.

4GB RAM seems low for PCs but judging by Chromebook standards it's decent?
