Thought it looked an OK deal.... then I glanced at the terms & conditions - read them and cringe. Thank God for the Sale of Good Act & the County Courts!

I reckon it would be easier to find out who owns & runs THIS site! :whistling:

Anyone know, in practical terms, the difference between the x4500M and the X4500HD?

If you're not in a rush to buy a lappie I'd wait a couple of months cos u could probably get a C2D (same speed) for that price.
#11
really tempted by this but the T&Cs are very off putting

true if i was buying this it would put me off too. i guess it really depends how desparate you need a laptop. if you are not desparate wait a couple of weeks for a better deal.

H&R added.

You can get this for £328.94 at DABS if anyone is interested. I think I'd rather spend a bit extra as I've never dealt with acer outlet.

I took the plunge on this one as my old lappie has just died.

The contact details for Acer Outlet are:

c/o Black Box industries
2 Norfolk Street

LA1 2BW
Tel: 0871 464 0873

They are operated by Black Box Computers, part of Black Box Industries in Lancaster. Says they have been going 12 years but could have put 12,000 years before all I could prove! Anyone heard of Black Box Computers? The only Black Box I know of are in things that crash! Hope my lappie won't!!! :-D

"for those unsure about acer buy the 2 year warranty deal posted.
...."

Isn't this 2 year warranty for 17" laptops only? This one offered is 15.4" so surely it doesn't apply?

its up to 17" it does not have to be 17", it can be 16" or 15". "This bundle is for laptops with any screen size of up to 17"." http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/453897/acer-advantage-silver-bundle-2-year/

Ta. Thanks for that. You're the man, the computerman! :-D

They have posted another deal to include the two year warranty, case and mouse. Same laptop. Doesn't really work out any cheaper, a couple of quid maybe - £347.49

http://www.aceroutlet.com/PRD_ProductDetail.aspx?cid=0&prodid=4203&Product=Extensa-5630---2gb---250gb---Vista-Premium---15.4---Webcam---Intel

Correction, doesn't really work out any cheaper than the previous price of £317. It's a few quid cheaper than the new price of £325.00 - sorry about that!

Just wanted to let you know the charge of £49 has gone, now £19. Also this is not always charged only when customers have returned computers which have taken hours to put into a resaleable condition. To date it has only be charged once!

Your comments help us improve our service so thank you!

Can confirm the spec is correct and the 2 year warranty is for any laptop, only difference is the laptop bag fts a 17" laptop, so anything smaller would fit in it. Also valid on the 18.1" laptops but obviously the bag will not fit these which is annoying.

Ooooer! We've attracted the attention of Acer Outlet so maybe I should be worried in case my next comments cause them to come round and knee-cap me! Gulp!

Actually not worried in the slightest because the service was and product is outstanding. I ordered late Thursday evening and the laptop arrived 8am this morning (Monday). That's two working days. Pristine, original, unbroken security tagged, Acer boxed, brand new stock. Laptop is exactly as specified except for one thing - it also has built-in bluetooth - bonus! Vista experience rating of 3.1. Right sided DVD drive (only item on right side), 3 USB ports (2 left side, 1 at rear), rear power supply port, left-sided ethernet, left-sided vga, left-sided pcmcia slot, front ear, mic, line-in, front bluetooth switch, front wi-fi switch, 7 multimedia quick keys left of keyboard, webcam. Overall build quality is good - matt finish to case, nice bright screen (glossy), keyboard has very little flex.

This is my first Acer and I am impressed. I will use Acer Outlet again for deffo.

Thanks all.... :-D

What are you talking about? DABS is owned by BRITISH TELECOM !!!!! They used to be good when Jon Atherton owned them but he sold out for big money to BT.

Think again. Things change and DABS is now a "wolf in sheep's clothing".

Yes, you probably can, but seeing as this thread is over two months old, that's not really as surprise!
