With just 128MB Ram, these struggle quite a bit - especially when the Acer Dashboard environment is active. We returned ours as it was impractical, even for casual use.

You might want to consider the Acer S200 Neo Touch (A.K.A. the 'F1') which has double the ram and a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor running Windows Mobile 6.5 but it is double the price at £328-odd at Xpansys.

Most frustratingly, both phones have very quiet speakers. You will need to create and upload 'loud' custom ringtones on your PC if you want to hear these phones ring in your pocket or bag.

nice hardware, shame about the Acer OS shell. However it represents a bargain (at half price of the true kings, the HTC HD and HD2) and can run reasonably with the custom hardware available.

For all that want a 800x480 slim mobile phone with a good browser, phone and GPs et, al. this is the only game in town.

Being the cheapest does mean you need to work for it, and that means custom firmware

Anyone know what it's like in relation to an O2 XDA Zest? Better/worse/same?

Why has this been expired?
It seem to be in stock still

windows mobile os never gets good reviews, i like them but the they are buggy.

A favorable review here, seems like an OK price, tho its competing with the T-Mobile Pulse at that price so I would recommend that over this phone. But if you are set on a Windows Mobile phone then this is pretty good

Looks like some cretin has expired this along with all the latest posted deals. It must be raining where this moron lives ,and it has not been allowed out by it's keeper so frustrated at being unable to deface posters it has tried to ruin the genuine efforts of people who have generously taken the time to help their fellow humans by posting deals.

Isn;t there a way of tracing this type of expirer and banning them ?

I dont think i'd get an Acer anything, just pure rubbish, if anyone is looking at this and can spend a bit more get the HTC HD 2, much better, or the iphone if you're a an of apple.

The 128MB of ram is not enough for these devices running wm6.1, i had the htc diamond which had 192mb of ram, and still was sluggish.
I got the HD 2 now which has 1GHZ CPU and 512MB of ram, with wm6.5 this runs ok, but could have used a little more ram (2GB would be nice)

This acer has an rrp of £399, what a joke.. at that pricee one could buy the ipone 3gs

T mobile pulse is worth ago, for £100, which is made by huawei - who make usb modems and such things.. or ecen try the sammy tacco lite £55 from t-mobile..

you'd be paying an awful lot more to get a HD2!
not a bad phone to get started with Windows though - and the home screen is ace

Have to say this looks like a bargain price for a true smartphone. I have had most of them over the years... HTC, XDA, samsung Omnia, and apart from the addition of widgets and custom screens, the OS is still the wheezing Windows that enlightened the world back in 2002.

Dont forget that Windows Mobile has always had multi-tasking capability, but it struggles when pushed! It even had Cut / paste from the start (which Apple have only just discovered for the Iphone). We have a windows market place now, similar to the Ipod App Store, but I have yet to get it to work properly.

Windows Mobile is badly in need of an overhaul, and WM7 is still way off - the current incarnations are still not "finger friendly" hence the need for a stylus and magnifying glass!!!

I have just bought the BARGAIN T-Mobile Pulse, which is very good as a stop gap, and my first venture into "Android" as an alternative to WM until Windows get their act together. It was only £91 last week from T-Mobile.

I do like the Iphone, and also have a Ipod Touch, but for my money the Iphone is still way too overpriced, and judging by Orange's "New" tariff (which is identical to the O2 Iphone tariff) I think Apple has total control over the networks, couple that with a long minimum contract and a steep handset cost, unless you absolutely have to get an Iphone, i would suggest giving android a try.

sorry m8, complete rubbish
WM is a framework. HTC and Samsung produce great implementations. Toshiba and Acer don't (so far).
As for bugs, how about Apple Iphone OS 3.1 !!!! or the Samsung i7500 Android !!!

WM is actually one of the most stable OSes
It ain't the most pretty though !!!

Just to let you all know....if you want the sliding keyboard version with fingerprint reader have a look at the Acer Tempo M900 which is slightly better spec'ed for £189.99 from Expansys. If you need a keyboard and security is paramount, its well worth the extra £10.
#20
Apparently, the M900 is very buggy & heavy.

good price for a smart phone

the new acer liquid is a lovely phone im going to get a few in next month for stock and might keep one for my self too... or wait for the sony ericsson rachel handset
