Can't see the point of paying over a hundred quid more for this over the standard Acer netbook, with that graphics card you won't be able to play any proper 3d Games on it and these Ferrari's have always suffered from serious heat problems that Acer have never been able to sort out..

Voted cold from me..

A Ferrari with a Fiesta engine... the L310 is a pretty slow 1.2GHz AMD cpu.

I had one of these last year and they are awesome.... the styling of them is way better than the pictures show...

They also have ferrari themed software and themes etc... very nice....

Yes they're more for the branding but worth it....

THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SITE IS FINDING THE PRODUCT CHEAPEST

If someone posted a jar of Kenco for £1 would you vote cold cos you can buy tesco value coffee for 50p?

Find it cheaper and then vote cold, DON'T vote cold because you don't like it....

Completely disagree - it is hot DEALS - saving a few pounds off the RRP of a laptop does not automatically make it a good deal - is the product a good deal at the price quoted? I will vote poor value products cold and great value products hot regardless of whether the poster has found a discount.

nice deal

FWIW, I've had mine since December and love it. Great compromise between netbook and laptop, yes it gets a bit hot and noisy but you can use AA1 Fan Control to minimise the noise. It may only be 1.2Ghz but it you'd never know it.

...that being said, I paid £365 for mine when the hardware was still relevant. This really needs to get closer to £275 for it to be hot.

Sorry, but voted cold as a new one is only a few pounds more here

Also, from my experience of Argos Clearance, it would have to be much cheaper to be worth the risk of what they might send you.
#15
I have one of these and can't really recommend it. It might be the cheapest deal for this laptop but it's overdue a price drop - I paid £375 for mine 9 months ago. Would've thought they'd be cheaper by now.

I am using this model as I type. I have had it for 5 months and only paid £345 on a deal from Ebuyer....so Ive voted cold...sorry.

BTW, its a great little laptop. I am disabled and struggle with my hands but this is lightweight and very easy to use.

I bought one for my wife in July and it is an excellent computer - I bought from John Lewis, cost £399.95 but came with 2yr gtee and bought through BA eShop link so a mass of BA Miles too. he John Lewis one is new but 2GB Ram vs the OP's 3GB but refurbished. Great computer but not convinced this is a hot deal.

Ive owned this for just short of a year and it is superb. Surprisingly capable aswell.

Anyone remember that troll who made us think these were going for half price at Tesco?

Disagree that a hot deal is just wherever the item is just the cheapest otherwise we could all list stuff for every item from a price comparison site. A hot deal means something out of the ordinary or discounted more than a few £ (for larger items). The product itself should present good value for money as well.
#22
got one myself also, runs games like left for dead, starcraft 2, half life 2, battlefield 2(not bad co),counterstrike, world of warcraft and the command and conquers-much better than my other two laptops with on board graphics, that xgp port is useless though-lets you add an external graphics card,an ati 4650 I think???, cant get hold of one anywhere!

No, the principle of 'deal' isn't just about being the lowest price for the item in question. Its also about value for money. In my opinion, if people can justify why they believe something is not good value for money, then they are entitled to vote either way. So shut your big fat face Dr opinio. :D

As for the deal; this machine is the worst laptop in the world. Ferraris are for big bummer boys and Acer laptops should only ever be used as chopping boards or be kept by the radiator in the hall and
used to bash Jehovah's witnesses. (it's a 2 for 1 thing)

Save on laptops £339 with bullguard 3users 1year and thats brandnew not some refurb, why has this got hot its pants.

I don't trust the 3gb memory stated as this model after some research shows it came with 2gb even so i would still buy the brandnew 2gb version over some refurb anyday. and i have a Argos clearance centre by me and a lot of the stuff ive bought from there breaks, my mate has a 42inch lcd he bought last year from there and theres a great big circle of dead pixels appeared on the screen the size of a 2pence piece.

every search show this with 2x1gb sticks of memory in dual channel. upgradable to 4gb so where these specs are from is beyond me as it never left acer with this spec.

Link doesnt appear to work but there are way better buys than this chav acer if you look around, theres the HP that went red hot on here the other week which was £280 and is way ahead of this, all this is is a painted up Acer one. With Acers customer care and build quality there around the worst ever company when things do go wrong, which they always do there techs are mostly inept idiots ive ever come across and before im bombarded by acers employees this is personal experience and 1000s of people also had the same things to say.

LOL

Having had one of these to play with for a few days and the famed Asus UL30, I would choose the latter. I bought the Ferrari from Argos Ebay for around £310 and returned it within days, when the Asus popped up on HUKD.

Thanks to Adidas Addict though, I went for the UL30, has better specs than this and the HDMI port is much more useful than the proprietary one on the ACER.
The fan on these r louder than usual but it does look nice.

The Asus from CPW, if still available online or in store, is a better deal, with DDR3, a more usable screen size, much better battery life and IMO better build.

Just to add, it does come with 3GB ram - an Argos special. Also, you are entitled to a Ferrari sleeve free from ACER unless the previous person who owned it has already claimed for it.

agreed, my mum in law has an acer laptop and its terrible......size of a brick, weighs as much as a car, horrible keyboard, pad is worse, battery life is non existent, screen reflects so much it would be excellent for attracting attention on a desert island

Argos models do have 3Gb RAM as opposed to the standard spec elsewhere. I bought mine in January and it definitely does have the additional Gb...was bought new but the Acer security seals were all sliced and replaced with Argos ones, suggesting that Argos or their suppliers upgraded them.
#34
If it can be found new for £30 extra, then cold.
#35
Wrong colour. Cold.
#36
It's clearly a cold deal when a brand new one is only a few quid more AND you take a risk when you buy anything from Argos Clearance in that what you receive isn't necessarily what you ordered. The main point is the over inflated price though.
#37
I take it as read that this particular deal is not a good one – not least because you can buy brand new for a few quid more than a refurbished one .

Interesting discussion though about the rationale on voting whether any particular deal is hot or not. The concept of ‘good value’ is subjective and therefore to an extent, depends on an individuals perception. What is good value to me may be very poor value to someone with a different budget, different needs and different tastes. Therefore, in my humble opinion, the primary factor should be whether a particular offer is good value deal compared with other offers for the same product i.e. cheaper.

Having said that, I have no problem at all with anyone who states that the deal is bad because product x is either crap or that product y is better - as long as they make an effort to explain why. What irritates me is posters who make broad sweeping statements with no attempt to provide a reasonable rationale to qualify what they assert. The ‘i reckon’ school of persuasive argument is lazy and unhelpful. It is little wonder that folk who go to the time and trouble to post deals can get so upset at times.

If we can all make a bit more effort and also try and retain a sense of humour while doing so, the quality of the debate will improve and we will all benefit from it. Nurse! where’s my medication?
#38
Hmmm, where to start. First off your 'mum in laws' sh!t Acer is not this particular product, so why judge this netbook the same? Then there are some of you that get really tied up in specs, when specs are not the be all and end all of the user experience when talking computers (see any Apple laptop). Then there are some who, oh gawd, dont buy anything from Argos Clearance, whatever you do!

I have owned this Acer for nearly a year now, bought from Argos Clearance, as did a couple of my buddies. We paid £299 as new condition, so I am voting cold on this deal. The netbook however is as the PRO REVIEWS state - user friendly, small, reliable, fast, light, not that hot and pretty much silent. It doenst have an HDMI, which I dont need, but Argos does punt these with 3GB's. It has Windows 7, which is decent, doesnt seemt to overtax the CPU, and boots up from sleep extremely quickly.
#39
And also the easytouch keyboard, screen and overall build quality are top notch. The Ferrari badge really isn't that bad either in the flesh, but yeah if it bothers you just put a sticker over it.

What if someones 6 year old really, really wanted a ferrari laptop for xmas? If someone is looking for this product, then surely its price is the relavant factor?8)
