Acer Iconia Tab A501 10.1" Tablet 1GB RAM 32GB Wi-Fi & 3G £249.95 @ John Lewis

DubDriverDubDriver

£387.92 at Amazon (which was a drop in price today from £529.99)

I'm no tablet expert so I'm willing to except cold votes on this one but it looked good to me for 32GB & 3G 2-year guarantee and £138 cheaper than Amazon?

Good price for this item but it's too little too late as we've had better prices for equivalent tablets (HP Touchpad/Blackberry Playbook, etc)

Don't think anyone knows enough to comment, really. But I'll have a crack going by reviews elsewhere - Fast enough. Crappy battery life, though. Pays yer money etc, but I'd want a tablet that lasts more than 6 hours battery life.
It'll need to come down in price a lot more to make up for that. It's not even ICS I don't think !

good price for a 10" tablet with 32gb, wifi and 3g! but with the kindle fire hd and nexus 7 (albeit there only 7") the game seems to have changed, when you can get a high spec tablet running newer software for sub £200 people will be very tempted to make do with a 7" tablet. Ipad mini and windows 8 tablets out very soon as well, i think stores are starting to clear out older models.

Just been looking for a tablet for my parents for Christmas. Not impressed with the 7" tablets or the Android operating system. Looks like an ipad2 then. Makes me realise how good the Touchpad I use is except for video playback which can be sketchy.

    Hmm.
I'd think about it if it took a sim card.

It states Wi-Fi & 3G, doesn't the latter mean it takes a sim card?

According to the review on CNET, it has a sim card slot but they unfortunately also say "high-bit-rate, 720p, MP4 videos wouldn't load on the A501."

Seems a very reasonable price for a 3G tab with specs like this. I certainly can't think of any other 10" tab with 32GB memory, a dual-core processor, SD slot and - crucially - 3G for this price.

Closest competitor price-wise is probably the 16GB 3G Galaxy Tab 2, which can be had for about £250 at the moment, if you go for Samsung's £50 cashback.

Nope, it's been extended to the end of October.

This is the cheapest around for this tablet by a fair chunk, hence a hot deal. Sometimes the fan boys forget the whole point of this site. Heat added op.

It is a good deal but I can't help think that alot of tablets are going to drop come late November. Keep your money in your pocket until then I think.

This is an old model, nobody wants it vs the new stuff. Rather wait for the new Mini Ipad or get the Ipad 2 or 3 over this POS

I've got the A500 which is this tablet but without the 3G.
720P videos no problem it even plays 1080p videos easily.
Battery life is poor i agree.
Sometimes disconnects itself from wifi and loses signal completely but it soon sorts itself out.
Freezes at times but no real big issues.
    Games look stunning on it.
    Fast processor.

It is worth this price easily nice find op.

I had the none 3G version from dabs about 12 months ago for less than this, it was a decent tablet i never had any problems with it the only issue i found was that it was heavy when held for a while it also felt well made although some people reported the camera lens cover falling off. I installed ICS on mine but its not for the faint hearted as you can easily brick the tablet, there's a decent developer section over at XDA with decent roms, i sold mine months ago as i had preordered the Nexus7 which im using now but even then there was beta Jellybean roms for it so i would assume that it had a custom rom by now but to get ICS on there you have to have a good understanding of Android and hacking it there are programs that will do the change so you can install the new updated bios but you have to have your wits about you and read the instruction a fair few times and make sure you know what your doing before attempting it as a mess up will brick the tablet and once you move from Honeycomb there is no way of going back even with a Nandroid backup trying a restore will brick the tablet.

You bought a 10" 32GB tablet for less than £250 a year ago?

I also find that slightly hard to believe.
