thanks. LongDongDave. how's this done?
Thats a slick looking machine! If it is anything like Acer laptops, make sure that you back it up because you dont have any discs and the recovery partition wont work if you convert it to NTFS!! (This is my experience with Acer laptops anyway). Would be good to put MCE on here and stick it under your tv.
Hi, in your original post you did great with the specs and link to the product, but there is a section for images. Just right click on the image at the Tesco (or any other) site and it will show Image need to put this on the deal page. Thanks for the first post and welcome to HUKD
I'm guessing it doesn't have a pci express slot or at least not a full height one? Think I'm gonna go with the other tesco one.

It's got MCE on it anyway hasn't it?

A good deal..particularly as it includes the Acer others have said I doubt this case will take a full size graphics card....worth checking for those who are thinking of a gaming upgrade.
EDIT: Somehow i opened the wrong link and was searching on comet? man i feel dumb!
That is gorgeous, guys... Well done!!!! It is a dream PC. A dual core one, with a screen to die for and the only thing missing is a TV Tuner.
That's a nice bit of kit for the ca$$h....Mmm

Voted HOT

didnt notice that. a small form factor media center with no tv tuner? what is up with that?!?!

anyone know what model the monitor is? im looking to buy a monitor, my dad needs a new comp but has the monitor already. im thinking some sort of deal might be possible there but only if the monitor is reasonably good
can anyone tell if a new graphics card can be installed in this, also possibly a fax modem.
The monitor is a AL1916W. I bought one of these 2 days ago for £50 more :(
if its in stock on thursday, ill have one. i bet it wont be though.
Would we have to buy Vista as a seperate for this? Or will it be free of charge?
You can get Vista Home Premium from Acer for £14 P&P from their website.
Thanks for the link! I checked and can see it as free! But its for the Home edition premium 32 bit. Is this good? as The vista upgrades for MCE are different on Dell?
looks nice pc think it is a laptop motherboard as it takes sodim ddr not desktop ddr and GeForce6150 as fitted to some laptops so may not have pci e graphics card slot
would be good to know if it has pci slots or built in LAN / wifi
Can you do this through quidco to get cashback?
Just received mine today :santa: This thing is SMALL.
This is integrated graphics...but good integrated graphics. The GeForce 6100/6150 is the best integrated solution available... I would rule out a dedicated graphics slot judging by its size...very good offer ;-)
Can you do this through quidco to get cashback?

Yes I believe 3% via Tesco > Tesco Direct....£12 off ;-)
A quick phone picture of the back:

Just bought one of these... (actually I paid and gave an london friend's address to delivery -> I am in France :-P )... I was looking for some small
but not weak machine, as I am overseas but just until end of year and an
big desktop is not exactly what you can carry on flight when coming back home... and I am fan of bigger-than-notebook screen.... I read a lot about
the Hp slimline, not so much about this. But at this price and this size,
I am very happy.
I was almost decided to buy HP's one, but the advantage of a video
expansor slot costs too much in size, this Acer is so smaller....
But here comes the bundle, and money speaks laugh hehe
Here you can't find these price not even counting without LCD. (And
I like the 1916W, the monitor. I had one for a little more than a year,
now is with my father, on Brasil, works like a charm! (I made a little
review of it on ebuyer, by the time I bought it. Still happy)...
I can't wait this little machine.......

I was almost crazy with my oooooooooooooooold notebook (btw it
saves my life, disgusting processor, nice hdd - because I put it and
almost endless battery life -> 7 hours with full charge. In other
words, an internet and typing texts -> ok, being fair, and excel,
and videos, and music :-) machine.

A quick phone picture of the back:

Hi, This sounds like a good buy. Little concerned that Acer do not seem to allow for their customers to upgrade DDRII or hard disk drive without voiding the warranty. Is this correct (guess that it is bearing in mind there's a 'warranty void if broken' label sealing the removeable panel(s)?.

Any idea's what the power consumption is and would you recommend this machine or a similarly spec'd notebook PC (obviously without 19" TFT Panel though)?.

Thank you.
anyone else who bought this from tesco, did you recieve any speakers with it?

i didn't and phoned them up as they were clearly displayed in the picture, they tried to fob me off but i stuck to my guns and hey presto they knocked me 10% off RESULT.
It seems that ebuyer are still the cheapest on this Aspire L100 at £449 delivered.

I contacted pcworld/currys/dixons etc sales staff for a price match or better than ebuyer - their response:
'because the item description was different (no speakers on their picture) they will not do a price match and will continue to sell this identical item at +£549'. This means that you get less product for more more money! Sillyness-ness!

I'm gutted that I missed the Tesco's and Dixons original offer. I think Dixon's made a pricing mistake and assumed that the product was the base-unit only for £360 and not the 19" widescreen, keyboard/mouse also.

Anyway, problems with this machine:
Dual core Athlon X2 3800 is socket 939 which will be hard to upgrade without changing the motherboard due to AMD no longer making the 939 socket processors. AMD X2 3800 runs efficiently and so keeps the internal temperature down so upgrade on this Small Form Factor PC might be foolish anyway.

No PCI/AGP slot for graphics card (or anything else you wish to add)
No internal digital TV tuner - although external tuners often better quality.
RAM hard to reach - not impossible though! (See review for Aspire L310 which is near identical but uses Core2Duo E6300 -nice!

BACK TO PENNY PINCHING: If anyone can find this cheaper than ebuyer PLEASE post ASAP because I want it regardless of any faults!

Does anyone know if you can buy this w/o the screen, keyboard, mouse etc?

I think Karla1980 has posted the deal from here: .

However eBuyer have them for the same price:
Looks like the price keeps coming down!

I far as I can make out this pc would not be able to handle true HDMI without the addition of an extra graphics card. You would also need to add a tv card as well!

There are some really nice media centre cases out there which when combined with one of the new microatx media centre specific motherboards with on-board 1080p HDMI output, would probably result in a decent media centre pc for not much more of an outlay outlay.
Looks like the price keeps coming down!

This is even cheaper from Amazon. £349 including delivery. Came with keyboard, mouse and speakers

Be aware those come with the inferior Sempron CPU guys - and to make matters worse, it's only single core too.
Available at Tesco for £399 with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 Dual Core Processor
Pity it hasn't decreased in price for 9-10 months. Even £50 off £399 would've been fair.
Got one of these over the summer, and see it now in Tesco again. Now with Vista.
It does seem to run a bit hot, particularly the ports at the front.
When I took a good look at the one now in Tesco, it now has TWO fans at the back whereas mine only had one.
Also, I went into the BIOS and could see that the case temperature was higher than the CPU temperature!?
Haven't opened the case(=busted warranty) to find out why - either the sensors are switched or there is a bios problem. ACER really not much help.
