This is a previous thread for this laptop. Went into Asda in sittingbourne yesterday looking for a laptop. They had none on display as it is a small asda, so i asked and they bought this one out and it scanned through at £245. After buying one took a friend in today and he bought one for the same price. Not sure what other stores have them, but it is not available online.

If it's a national deal it will be a cracker IMHO! :w00t:

Don't suppose you happen to have a note of the Asda code for it? It would be handy, as that way other members can phone up about them as well to check stock availability.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

What's your point? My wife and I have both got Acer Aspires which are used daily (mine for software development, so gets a hard life), both just over 4 years old and we've had no problems at all in that time. The Compaq you posted is certainly an excellent deal, but this is £69 cheaper which is quite a large amount on a £245 purchase.

excellent price if u can find one in stock

Sorry but I disagree, I would rather have the Acer due to price, it not relying on cash back and vouchers to get the price down and specification mainly the better cpu. I think the 2 are incomparable anyway due to the £70 price difference.

Sorry but this deal is far better than your celery.

£70 more expensive, for something with a worse processor and just about identical stats apart from that?

Apart from a bit of HD space, but not many people will use anywhere near 160gb on a laptop like this. And even if they did, £70 will get you a hell of a lot of external storage.

Thats a pretty pathetic attempt Kjbenja. Pointless as well.

Your deal is a Celeron procssor so there is no comparison mate..I wouldn't touch a celeron with a bargepole..Cheap and nasty is all I'll say..

Dual core Athlon against a celeron 1.66ghz...Pfffttt..

Tommyoto's deal is far superior..and way cheaper, and to be honest Comcrap are no better than Acer..

The argument should cease as it is distracting from the deal which is a fine one for someone after a budget laptop. I disagree that HP and Dell are rubbish though, they both produce some very well built high spec machines. What I would say is that HP after sales service is appauling generally. Never had a problem with Dell products or service.

Anyone know if VGA only?

Let's not get carried away shall we I agree that Acers are good but to say they are better than HP or Particulary Dell is plain stupid considering HP and Dell are the largest laptop manufatures in the world most companys use Dell desktops or Laptops in the office place today.

Ive got an Acer thats a couple of years old, build quality is fairly poor and ive had problems with a flickering backlight ever since i bought it even though its been repaired twice.

After speaking with a customer at work who repairs Acer laptops for a living, he said the build quality on them has much improved though. For £250 id definately take a punt!

#36
Well it seems that the deal doesn't exist, at least according to customer services, looks like an in-store only with no way of stock checking until you get there.
#37
Not in Romford store
#38
Does anyone have the model number of this laptop? For starters I want to be able to be accurate when I ask for it and secondly I'm tempted to see if PCWorld/Currys stock the same model for a potential price promise deal

Please don't be silly, it's a Celeron not an Atom. Clock speeds are not comparable between the two.
