Alright, one more - it's been a good day for phone deals! Triple SIM seems very interesting although shame no LTE. Otherwise some good specs for this kinda money, although I am sure there will be plenty to tell me otherwise. I would assume the first reply will be informing us of a better deal :)

I'd have loved a slightly better screen but I'm tempted still!

is this getting lollipop?
#8
Now that is tempting. I do not need Triple SIM, but it could be useful on holiday.

My only concern is the Mediatek CPU combined with Android 4.4... I wonder whether there will every be an update.

And yes, Android 5.0 is not perfect - it is after all a .0 version. But I bet 5.1 will be quite amazing again.

Just as an everyday example Uzor, we use 2,3,4 sim handsets for clients for GoogleAds, each one has to have a single phone verified account number, which has to be either answered and|or forwarded to the client.

Had a go on one of these last year with 2 sims and was actually very good, the HTC dual active and the Samsung S5 Duos dual standby are similar in features, but twice the price of this Acer one.

Moved back to 2g 3 & 4 sim handsets [non smart] now, as the battery life on these, with active dual is very poor.

To point out some points to the geek-o-geeks, me being one of them..

This has 1 x 3G data, 1 x 2G Edge data and 1 x 2G [no data] so you can use sim 1 or sim 2 to get on the web|socialize|watch egg licking videos|send messages etc, that use any type of data, the 3rd sim is for 2G voice calls only ;-)

All 3 sims are STANDBY mode setups [mediatek issue on chipsets] so you CANNOT use them together and|or for doubling up on incoming answered calls etc etc.

If you want true multi-sim use, say 1 for personal, 1 of business and 1 for advertisers to be diverted to voice mail, you need DUAL|TRI|QUAD standby phones.

99 times out of a hundred you Google the name of the phone with Google play apk. That is what I did with my Vowney v5. This phone is hot triple sim is sadly not as needed now orange Wednesday is almost dead.

Dual/triple sim Fones are more common abroad. esp in Asia

I wouldn't recommend an Acer. I had an E2 and then an E3. This seems to have the same CPU and should only be considered very low-mid range. Support for updates is very poor, I very much doubt this will get the Lollipop update. I suggest anyone considering an Acer phone spends some time on the forum of the Acer website.

Not that simple. I was speaking from personal experience with Chinese Android. After spending many hours to install Google play including advice from some people with no success, I gave up.

But I agree the price of this phone is very good and good to hear if they know install Google play. Without Google play you will not be able or difficult to install aps.

So would this work out for say international sims? For example I live in Northern Ireland have 3 network uk sim which allows use of my current uk allowance while across the border in Republic of Ireland. I also have a 3 network sim from Republic of Ireland which also allows use of data while in Northern Ireland. Having one phone that could take 2 international sims would be a fecking treat!?!

Excellent phone.
Bought mine in Asia. Only problem I had was overheating when used intensively there. No problem in UK temperatures!

A good enough reason not to buy anything from them.

The £139 price was a 24 hour deal of the day, hence it has gone up, if they have stock left, Expansys do tend to do it again!

Doubt they sold all 68 they had, so just signup for a price drop alert for the item and it will tell you when it is reduced again ;-)
