would like to see some reviews with 1Gb ram should be good on the internet

~£150 for ICS, 1 Gb RAM, dual sim, and SD card slot = wet dream.

Only question mark is the build quality due to it being built by Acer. Anyone had an Acer mobile before, as bad as their laptops?
#4
Yep. Had Acer Liquid Metal a while back before getting HTC incredible.

Very decent phone quality. Acer had decent support on the forums like Modaco.

Tempted, but love my HTC.
#5
When is it available?

Not really tempted , looks more like the old horrible HTC Hero or the New Dual Sim HTC Hero as I would call it,
Huawei Ascend G300 is way more classy, so cold for me

Both handsets will be demoed at Acer’s press event on 31 August at IFA in Berlin. Acer has already announced that the Liquid Gallant Duo will go on sale in September before being followed by the single-SIM version.

So based on the classy aesthetics of the phone, you vote cold?! Personally, I would be voting on the value of this 'deal', if it represents good value for money over RRP!? Or, as it would appear, at RRP, is it worth its money!?

Hot deal for a sim-free handset at this price.

You can get it in Black for a whole £1 extra - http://www.expansys.com/acer-liquid-gallant-duo-black-234432/

Is this unlocked to o2? I'm looking to downgrade from a Galaxy SII to make some money and this seems ideal.

Isn't the Huawei Ascend G300 1Ghz processor also ?
#18
This looks like its going to be a major flagship phone!

both are 1GHz but the G300 is Cortex A5 and the Acer is Cortex A9

I have an Acer Liquid (posting this on it), the only issue is the 256mb ram, this with 1GB should be amazing for the money.

The Acer has a Cortex A9 which is a Dual-Core 1Ghz

I like the Idea of having a Geo-tagging camera, very handy mmm very tempted, as I need to upgrade my phone but going on Holiday next week

Very good price for a very good phone, and because it's a UK based seller there is no extortionate price for shipping and customs tax for importing the phone from china direct. Beats every other Chinese phone out there in terms of spec, screen size/res, speed and value. + it is dual sim which is a huge huge plus.

Thanks for the post OP. Made me consider this phone now as a back up for my T-Mobile and O2 sim

Oh and in before 'Cold, not an iphone'

EDIT: Btw- specs are wrong at the top. The MTK 6575 is single core. Only the MTK6577 is dual core.

Good specs. Decent price. Heat.
Although I will personally wait for a review on how good the dual sim functionality is before I commit.
#26
I love it that there's so many competitively-priced Droids out there..and if I was still in the market for a phone I might just have plumped for this one.

My mum's showing an interest in smartphones now, and wants one for Xmas. Might get this for her in a few months.

Where are people getting the idea this phone is dual core?
#28
In fact even Acer's own press release for these models doesn't mention it. Source.

OP is wrong.

Dual sim is very good on android. Works perfectly on every phone. Just go to youtube and type in 'Android ICS dual sim' Should be some good demos. The dual sim functionality will be the same as every android phone. 100% Guaranteed.

The only thing that puts me off this phone is the battery and baseband. But i'm sure you can buy about a couple of batteries for under a tenner after release. + Unless you plan on tethering then the downlink speeds should be good enough,

It's not dual core, your SG2 will easily outperform it I would imagine.

Maybe the OP got confused by the "Duo" name?

"4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz MT6575 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD compatibility and a 5 MP rear camera. As for the 'Duo' in the name, that's a tribute to this phone's dual SIM card design."

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Android-4-Liquid-Gallant-Specs-Price-Release-Date,news-39684.html

Which is a better bet, the Huawei G300 or this one?
#34
sorry for the dual core confusion. Updated post to single core
#35
Can both sims be used at the same time?
#36
Fantastic price.
#37
so other than the dual sim feature, and the A9 vs A5 (dont really know what difference this makes)....why would you pay c.£50 more for this than the G300?

Genuine question as I'm selling an upgraded xperia U (hoping to get c.£120-£130) and was going to get a g300 instead. Would consider this Acer if it was a better value option

20 years ago I had an Acer laptop with a 10MB (not 10GB) hard drive. It was so bad I swore I would never buy another Acer, but I did and I don't regret it; I have been using this Acer Travelmate for the past 10 years or so and it's been fantastic. I just bought an Acer Aspire 5755G Core i7 and I wouldn't buy any other brand. At one time Acer meant poor quality (made in Taiwan), but now Acer just means quality.

@Louise & Chet ,this is better than the Ascend G300 due to the dual sim design, the larger screen, Higher screen res, double amount of ram and higher internal storage. Plus its running ICS out of the box. Very much worth the extra £50. Plus it comes factory unlocked which is a plus so no hassle unlocking it for your network. (which adds at least £5 to the Ascend G300 price)

All in all a very good buy. But if you look at my post above you will see a few downsides such as battery life, internal storage + Data speeds. Also some may say non dual core is a downside- This could cause the phone to run slower in some areas, especially with the higher screen res but the processer does support this screen res so you won't notice it being slower that much. The 1GB ram will help a lot which is a great addition.

But to be honest the Ascend G300 has the same battery, internal storage and data speeds so when comparing to the G300 they're not exactly downsides. But when comparing to high end phones like S2/One S then they are. But for the price difference (£200 less), who cares.

Im sure both sims are ment to work at the same time. Think its best to wait before pre-ordering it until official reviews are released.
