Good price, same as PC World.

0.3 mp webcam!! Are they kidding??
#3
Why? 0.3MP is pretty standard for a webcam. That'll give you a 640x480 image which is satisfactory for most purposes.
#4
I think the Acer A150 is a better deal for £229 with a 120 gig HDD
#5
Bought one of these last week from PC world for £185, soon took it back and got a laptop the text sixe on webpages is tiny and it feels like a toy. Shame rreally because I was looking forward to it.
#6
yes, a lot of hype was made on these, and the greedy swines even upped the prices from £ 199 inc , to £ 199 ex , thinking they were selling it too cheap

now theyre reducing prices back to what they shouldve been.

thats a good strategy to kill off most of the interest from consumers in the 1st place.

oh what marketing geniuses these people employ.

ps: yes, like all net books, these things are cack, the screens on them are terrible at best,

There are none in store for the 120gb £229.99 models where I live but they have these in for £199.99
#8
for what they are, £ 200 is far too much

they should be around £ 100 max.

The Aspire one is more than just another ultra-mobile netbook:

Isn't it actually the same as the other million netbooks out there???

Dixons, PC World and currys are all part of the same company, DSG, thats why the have the same price, but Comet price match with currys ect. Dixons is now only web based.

Waiting for this one to hit the UK:

New Acer Aspire One - AOA150-1447

With the recent announcement from Acer, regarding the price drops on the current range of their Aspire One netbooks; they are also releasing a new model - AOA150-1447.

Featuring a six-cell battery, 160GB internal hard drive and Windows XP Home, the Aspire one is perfect for on-the-go business travellers and environments which require long-lasting battery power. The Aspire one AOA150-1447 is now available via Acer authorized resellers with prices beginning at $399.

I've the 120gb HDD version and have been using it for about 3 weeks now. I love it. It's absolutely perfect for my needs (writing a thesis and research and surfing the net). Battery life on the 3 cell is about 2.5 hours and it charges quickly. I'm planning on buying a spare battery but the 6 cell would be nice as standard. I've nothing but good to say about mine and plan on buying two more for my kids for Xmas presents this year. My partner is also thinking of getting one now having used mine.

I think 8gb HDD with SD support is a bit stingy but if it is just for kids surfing the net, using email and msn then it should do the job with no qualms.

Already available in the US, and it has to be just a matter of time before we get it here. It's at the new lower price AND it has the 6 cell battery as standard. I'm not buying one until it arrives.

Also waiting for 6 cell version of the acer, or wind to come out. The Asus would be tempting but the keyboard is just too small for touch typing.

They're tiny, which is why they're so appealing and cost £200. £100 is a joke.

I got an eee PC 2G Surf last week, and although the screen's on the small side, it's a perfectly respectable display.

A truly portable laptop for £152 delivered (on ebuyer). No complaints from me. It's a very, very good piece of kit.

off travelling soon and want an ultra micro laptop - which is the best out at the moment for battery life?
#20
think if your looking at battery life alone its the EEE901

Yeah these looks good I just wondered on the netbooks that have an SSD HD and no optical drive how on earth do you re-install Windows?? would you have to buy an external CD USB driver and hope the BIOS picks it up when you boot up?

Around the £60 - 70 mark - which is why it's a far better bet to wait for the new lower price US models to hit the UK, with the 6 cell battery included.

Not much use if you actually need one now, though!
