From reading various other threads on here I know that PC World will price match Play.com - not only that, but they will also deduct 10% from Play's advertised price.

The link for info is here: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/price-match-promise

So, based on that, PC World would only charge £99.99 less 10% = £89.99

Hope this helps someone.

Are these LCD monitors dropping in price really quick, or am i not getting so bored these days?

I just cant believe how quick the prices seem to be coming down, not just LCD's but like all IT equipment?

Voted hot, excellent price.

A Couple months ago they were even cheaper than this, then they went in price.

Monitor doesn't have DVI though :(

i allready pointed this deal out on the previous amazon thread.. but i didnt notice the £5 discount! right on if you use a varsity card (5%), quidco (5%?) and £5, brings the price down hugely!!!!

Sorry for my ignorance but I'm just about to order this monitor and I don't really understand why having no DVI matters?

Could someone briefly explain whether having DVI is important?

Many thanks

Can get 20" widescreen for similar money I've never had much luck with Acer monitors before.

This one seems nicer, 20", black and similar money:-

DVI is digital, better quality, generally a sharper image.

Ordered one from Play.com earlier today. Didin't use the £5 off code though. I actually forgot.

Anyway, found some information on the monitor from Acer UK.

Have you got the link for the monitor in PCworld? The only one I can see is an Acer X193W and the one at Play.com is a P193W.

Cheers

Hi Adam.
I tried ordering one of these from PC World due to the price match promise and 10%, however it is badly worded. What they actually mean is they will match the same starting price as anyone else, ie £99.99 from Play.com, then minus only the difference between the two, ie they are selling it as £124.99 so a 10% reduction of the difference being £25, 10% of this being £2.50. So overall selling it to you at £97.49
(Hope that made sense) so it is better to go to Play.com with £5 off voucher and Quidco.com on top.
Hope this helps.

Yep that's why I went with the 2x more expensive VP930 for the 1280x1024 resolution which is supported by the 360 (for about a year now). I had a 21" Dell p1130 (I think that's right model name) running at 1024x768 which is 4:3, and the 1280x1024 is 5:4 but even on letterboxed games like Oblivion the change to the VP930 only lost me half an inch of vertical viewing area that the letterboxed game filled (I know because I got the tape measure out!). Also the 2 x vga and DVI helps me run 2 PC's off it as well, including a Win9x one for old classic dos games :)

If you are going to do a lot of 360 playing on this, trust me the blurred edges won't be worth the money you save if the monitors native resolution can't match one the 360 will output. 1024x768 on my VP930 is quite blurry, edges are nowhere near as defined at all.

How about something like this? VGA/DVI and around £155-160, plus a 360 matching native resolution of 1280x1024.
