Maybe I should have read more thouroughly I didn't pick up about the 1 month warranty. :-(:

....and delivery is £5.86 too total £275.84

Surely the big point of note is the SIZE....... it is a 12" model - great if you watn snall factor; anyone looking for a standard size may well not notice that!Refurbished laptops mean a second-hand battery too... of very indeterminate previous use and future life, and one month warranty is ridiculous, indicating they don't have much confidence in it :-(

Still this is cheaper than they go on ebay second hand, good spec/form factor for the money.

Acer refurb + Dabs.com = deadly combination. Cold.

Despite the 1 month warranty I'm pretty sure this would be covered by the Sale of Goods Act - in that you would expect the retailer to honour "fit for the purpose" and "of merchantable quality" for a fair period (and I don't think 1 month is a fair lifespan for a £250 electronics item).

I agree, 1 month is surely not legal... Acer may not be responsible for it at all, but surely Dabs are?

People need to understand that warranties are provided by manufacturers (who have no other legal obligation to you) but your legal contract is with the RETAILER and they are required to sell items which work properly for a reasonable amount of time.

As this is a refurb. item that would be a shorter period perhaps but the only REAL difference is that you can't complain about minor cosmetic issues (scratches etc.) with refurbs - they should still work as-new and you should have some comeback for AT LEAST 1 year (and I suspect Trading Standards would agree with that).

You also have the DSR 7 day 'trial' to check for things like dead pixels and other issues ofc. :)

I agree totally with what you are saying, it is in fact pretty much how you stand legally, but all that aside, it makes for one very miserable time ENFORCING your rights.... County Court, lots of paperwork, hassles, phone calls - some things are just better avoided altogether, especially when you KNOW the likelihood of such hassle:

Both "Refurbs" and Dabs feature highly in the "to be avoided" list in all good manuals of hassle free purchasing technique! :whistling:
