you can always return it unopened. I think distance selling regs apply on the web - so you have 7 days to cancel the order and return it if you wanted to - just an option.........
#5
Ebuyer will allow you to return any item for any reason for 10 days under the DSR rather than the standard 7 days.

Yeah that's true.. but YOU have to pay for delivery to return it as it's not faulty etc.. so would probably cost you close to the £10 saving anyway, and that's if nothing goes wrong during return delivery... then you have to wait for them to process the return and refund your money. Not worth it IMO, better to just live with not getting it £10 cheaper than to have to go through a load of hassle... there'll always be times when you realise you could have got a better deal somewhere else if you'd waited a few days/weeks, that's life :whistling:

But this offer is for the 4GB version with bigger hard drive - so the saving would be more than the £10 price difference. It would probably cost about £60 just to upgrade the memory from 2GB to 4GB (they come with 2x1GB installed, so 2x2GB would be needed).....but yes I agree there will always be better deals ahead.... :)

Don't I so want one of these

another £23 gets you another 180gb but this is a good find.

But I can't help thinking so many price drops on these can they go any furthur.

The new ion chip is out in the US so these will be old tech in 6 months so these can only get cheaper

good spot Op

You've kind of missed the point of them then - they are powerful enough to do common tasks, compact, quiet, reasonably priced and consume very little power.

In short, they do what most people want with minimal fuss. Those looking for a powerful games system or multimedia editing system will of course look elsewhere.

I'm petitioning to rename this site 'Hot Acer Revo Deals Limited', I mean just how many versions of this thing are there waiting to be posted :whistling:

I'd assume it's the "little" that gets most people buying and for those with some spare ££, just facination at their size.

They arn't bad for general every day work, or using as a torrent box, but I'm not sure what these would be like trying to complete heavy graphical and script based work.

how would this little beast cope with some photoshop/dreamweaver action?
#14
I very nearly bought the basic one, then thought about the one with Windows installed and only backed out as I had to send it to Asia and my mate couldn't carry all the stuff I wanted to get in the end.

Ended up buying a Lenovo B450 laptop over in Asia for the missus and awaiting delivery.

that's hot

Brilliant product - strap it to the back of a large (24" plus) monitor and you have a good media pc with a tiny footprint

That's why I like this for the wife, she's mainly a websurfer, the low power consumption means alot to us hippies, we have knocked our electric useage down so much (50% in a year) & aim to shed a few more KW hours, this will help considerably, also it's nigh on portable so can pretty much hide it, thus less system clutter in our media room.

Don't know anything about computers. Is there any advantage in this over a similarly priced laptop?

For the basic model at £130 there is no comparative laptop. Even at £250, where is the laptop ? Nowhere.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/185894 Not much more expensive if you're not after W7. That said, it doesn't have the niceties (HDMI + SPDIF)

Well I want one - I just really can't justify yet another Computer :whistling: This is dual core with 4GB Ram, so not that underpowered! and would be great as a Home Theatre PC (they will hide behind your Flat Screen if required) They are virtually silent, consume hardly any power and you get Win 7, a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse to boot! What's not to Like?
#26
So tempting...

Thanks to OP - just cancelled my ebuyer one & went for this.

And as far as the knuckle draggers go - running photoshop on this is like buying a ferrari to do the school run. possible but daft to even consider it.
#28
For this price, I got the same machine but with 2GB RAM and 25o GB HDD before Christmas so this is a very good deal.

As hot as Katherine Jenkins!

After looking at some of the links/ videos I've decided it looks quite good, but not for me. I already have a HTPC, i7 Desktop, MacBook, Netbook, and a spare P4 sitting arround somewhere so too many PCs as it is!

I doubt CS4 is going to run that well but older ones will.
#31
must resist buying this!

currently I use my ps3 as a media centre of sorts, but that involves copying files from my old, needs to be replaced desktop and transerring them via usb. I tried Tversity but it's rubbish over my network and films just are not watchable via streaming.

is it worth me getting this if I already have a ps3? Does XBMC just sort your media files, I guess you still need to find them on the internet first......

I run cs2 - wouldn't normally even consider this to run together, but gonna try it just to see how the revo compares to my e5400 (2.7 ghz) 4gb compares. gonna be slow! Like most buyers is gonna be a media player 99% of time.

I recently bought a Toshiba L300 149 for £250 which is still with carphone warehouse repairs (nearly 8 weeks). how does this compare

I just bought a netbook which I love, but I keep coming back and looking at the Rev, my only concern is that all these deals might be a sign that a new version is on the way, hopefully with ION 2.
#35
ion 2 is out end of march so i think its better to wait . Ion 2 and dual atom sounds good ..

From what you have just described, I think the Revo should be suitable for your needs. If you're doing any video editing or photo editing using something like Photoshop, then you're better off with a more powerful machine. Also, it you're a gamer, then this is probably not for you. Hope this helps.

Hopefully the dual one is better and more optimisations are made...
