This is a repost of a recent deal for these Acers but they are now showing as 280 in stock at the time of writing.
I ordered one before the deal had been posted last time and have just had a dispatch note so it looks like they have had a delivery.

Note these are the R3610, not the R3600 like it says on the site.
They have optical audio and are the Dual Core Atom 330 CPU's.

I would recommend selecting the next day delivery option (it's pretty pricey though!) to try and ensure you get one as they don't seem to allocate stock based on time of order, it's done by dispatch priority.

IT'S NOT 3610. It's 3600.

The one the OP has posted is £151.78 delivered at Insight, less 4% Quidco

Use TECH38 to get this price.
#5
Does anyone know when the 3600 is out? Dual 330s ?
#6
Just received shipping notification that my unit has shipped from Insight.
I tried to buy from Microwarehouse but web site would not accept my credit card despite the fact I had also used it with PC World web site and they are all part of DSG Ltd. Wierd but other people also reported this problem a couple of weeks ago with Microwarehouse when this deal was first posted on HotUKdeals, so I think they have a web site problem. Maybe they want you to phone to avoid paying cashback !!
I also looked at the Lambda Tek deal but altho' headline said Atom 330 the descripion all said Atom 230 so became suspicious of exactly what they are selling. It is very confusing as they all seem to be called by the generic name of 3600 both with 230 and 330 processors.
Moral is be careful, make sure description says Atom 330 dual core then you can return it as wrong product if thats not what you get.
Insight have taken a couple of weeks to deliver mine but are a known honourable company.
Hope this helps someone

True. Mine from Ballicom has been shipped today, 2 weeks after I ordered! Wasn't that bothered about waiting TBH as I got it on a whim.

Ballicom are currently showing 273 in stock, but they've pushed up the price to £160.99 (inc VAT) ;-)

That's not the same one. That IS only an Atom 230

I will be ordering one in exactly three hours from now, once the money comes into my bank account - it's going to be running dual-boot with Windows 7 Professional and Windows XP Professional...might chuck on Windows Home Server instead, though if I can find a decent deal for it (a few smaller companies are running with it now so would be handy to get some more exposure to it).

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

That IS the same one. Look at the Acer part number 92.NVDYZ.UI0 and moreover it is from the same stock as Ballicom, Equanet etc. LT has just mucked up the description, as it often does.

However, it comes up as £155 delivered making Insight still the cheapest option, especially if you have Quidco.

As for despatch priority, I went for the cheapest option but was clearly allocated mine by order date rather than despatch priority. Insight has also bumped up my delivery to next day delivery at no extra cost.

Would anyone be kind enough to enlighten me how to install Windows 7 on this - something to do with an updated BIOS ?

Still tempted. Still can't justify it though.

Use a Windows Media centre remote... plenty of them about, eg:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=218643&C=AffilWin89477&T=!!!gid!!!_28015660
(Google for MCE remote)

I am using a similar remote (it came with an eMachines desktop that will never be used for Media) with my R3600 bought last week (should have waited for this offer - damn!), and it is great.

I have Win7 running on my R3600 - just have to change the BIOS setting to disable RevoBoot.. see instructions part way down the xbmc guide here:
http://lifehacker.com/5391308/build-a-silent-standalone-xbmc-media-center-on-the-cheap
and change the boot device order.

Then connect up a USB or eSATA DVD drive and install as per a normal PC. That of course may be the tricky bit...

Just ordered from Insight. Went for the cheaper delivery option too, as I'm in no rush for it. Hopefully, there's no pending stock at some point today or tomorrow! Total paid: £151.78 - 4% TopCashBack = £145.71. Now, onto a remote... any ideas?

Why not get the asrock 330 ion at least it has optical drive bigger hard drive and also atom 330 dual core.

Because it's £90 more! TBH if you were going down that route then I would get the blu-ray version which is often available at scan for less than £300. But that is twice the price of the acer.

Thanks - googling about people have been modifying BIOS .roms themselves, someone in an ebay ad mentioned you could download a specific Windows BIOS - but I'm none the wiser.

Cheers again

anyone know how noisy these are?

Im guessing the single core version may not have a CPU fan (could be wrong) and this one does (but again could be wrong)

Tempted for a mythtv frontend running ubuntu linux

Yes both have a fan, but its quite large so spins slow so they are said to be pretty quiet.

That fan isn't quite large it's tiny! When it comes on it will be very high pitched and annoying IMO!

I bought one of these last time this deal was on. Great purchase!

Also, probably worth getting this for your new purchase as well : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/519612/external-dvd-rw-for-netbooks-24-96-

In terms of the fan noise, I find it close to slient, and mine is on 24/7 in a cupboard. Even when the heat builds up and I put my ear next to it, it's very quiet.
