mediocre chip, and a very weak hdd. not convinced this is a good deal at that price... looks pretty and is thin/light etc, but the specs dont warrant the cost.

Yeah IMHO you'd be pretty stupid not to buy a mac over this.

there aren't many ultrabooks with a GPU like this. I was looking at these myself. The HDD is not very attractive though and the RAM is (I believe) soldered in which at 4gb is a major downside. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing what price the Asus Zenbook Ux303LN comes in at. That looks pretty interesting. The price above is still the best for this model from my searching so hot from me.

You're comparing Apples to Oranges ;-)

This is Windows / PC. The Mac is nice in isolation, but Mac is Mac and doesn't run even half the software available for the PC, particularly games. Very few thin/light laptops around with dedicated graphics.

Different strokes for different folks but the S3 is perfect for me. Use for it for work when I'm travelling or away from home without massive luggage weight but it also allows me to play games etc when I'm stuck in a hotel in the evenings and the HDD is useful for carrying a movie / music library.

That looks lovely but could be pricey especially with 3200 x 1800 IPS and 256gb SSD....$1300 on Amazon so probably not much less in the UK for the top spec model.

There should be a 1080p model with a hybrid drive based on some things I've read but will have to wait and see what comes out
