Alternative to the UL30A from Carphone for those that want DVD drive. Its Vista making it cheap, but not bad if you have access to W7.

Acer Aspire Timeline 4810TZ

Acer Aspire 4810TZ offers more than 8 hours battery life (All Day Computing), Acer Aspire 4810TZ is ultra-light weight and sophisticated design, all at the right price. The Acer Aspire 4810TZ is an Acer Timeline. With the Aspire Timeline series, Acer has taken a big, if not the biggest step forward in the concept of mobility, an area where finding the perfect equilibrium between light weight and autonomy has always been the number one priority. The Aspire Timeline series was conceived around the duration of the battery and introduces an entirely new way to render the system lighter, more efficient and less harmful to the environment. From now on you can turn on your Aspire Timeline in the morning and turn it off in the evening without ever having to charge it! Light as your time can be!

These SULV processors are not the most powerful around
battery life and weight are unbeatable

Especially this single core version.

But when you consider how many people spend £300+ on a 12" netbook with a crappy Atom I feel these are a viable option.

I like the Timeline series but I still think that it’s a waste to go for a single core version. Of course if the price is low enough as you say it’s competing with Atom based Netbooks in one sense but the extra weight and size of these puts them into a different category than Netbooks. Personally if I’m going to have the extra size and weight I figure I may as well have the extra performance as well. It’s another option of course.

how the point with 10 and 12" netbook is , 10" or 12"

This is a full size laptop, but with the power of a netbook

Not good

I went with the UL30A from CPW instead now it's only £349 - £17.45 Quidco = £331.55 bargain, the processor in the UL30a is much better than the single core in this according to benchmark tests.
