its a good laptop/netbook.... cd drives are soooo last year what do you need it for and if you do need one why not by an external drive and use it when required. this laptop only weighs 1.6kg and is ideal for internet, office/student work which to be fair that is what about 85% of laptop owners use them for

still fairly hot i would say! :)

Seems expensive when the Acer 531 1.6 gig machines are only £249 or less, they only have a 10"screen though.

don't know why op can even think of a comparison when difference is £200

netbook/laptops have different uses, surely op knows their requirements

if budget is as broad as that then go for more expensive/higher spec, then search for cheapest model u like

the main attraction with these is their long battery life for a laptop - albeit not a particularly powerful one but then it cant be when it can run for 8 hours on battery. If portability and using it away from a power point isnt a priority this isn't going to offer good value.

I have one of these and it is good for a light portable.
They are quite different from Netbooks and should not be compared.
This can take 8Gbytes RAM - Netbooks are 1 or 2GBytes max.
This can do Full HD playback as it has a better graphics chip set then most Netbooks - apart from ION powered ones.
This can run 64 Bit OS - most Netbooks can't - most ATOM chips do not support x64.
Has 1,366x768 pixel screen - higher than most netbooks.
Has a more powerful CPU than the ATOM, although does not compare with Centrino Core 2.

Runs Win 7 64 bit very well.
HOWEVER - this price is nothing very special. Same price at quit a few places I think.

NOTE - The spec above is riddled with errors - No Blu-ray DVDs, no Lightscribe technology, No S-Video output, no firewire etc etc - go to Acer web site for spec.
