Add a 2gb strip of Ram and its good.

We have Acer units, lots of them! Never ever have they fell apart.....and they are hammered day in and day out. Better than the contacted Dell units we had before, but Dell lost the contract cos they we terrible and Dell never ever turned up when they said they would...

Acer have been fine

i've had my acer travelmate for over three years now and still going strong, no problems with it

Had two, one fairly good one pretty bad. Not in a great hurry to rush back to them because of that, the second one was a higher spec machine, and it just couldn't take the wear & tear of all day all week use :-(

It depends on the model not the manufacturer, i have a sony vaio that cost me £1000 last year and has serious issues, its extremely flimsy.. yet i also have two acer laptops, a travelmate from about 8 years ago that still works fine (albeit is a little battered) and was used constantly, and is still being used as a console on a cisco network, and also a £600 5920g i bought a little while ago that so far seems pretty bomb proof (and has been in use for 12 hours a day 7 days a week, and constantly being transported in a non laptop rucksack) and far better made than my £1000 sony.

People shouldn't vote a deal cold just because its by a certain manufacturer, thats like saying all Audi's are good just because they are Audi's (which is **** as anyone who has ever owned an older TT will attest to ...dodgy dodgy driving stability in the wet anyone?)

For the spec, at £300 this is a good deal, sure it needs more ram, but that can be picked up for £13 a gig if u feel the need.. There are sometimes better Dell deals to be had, but that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment

Wisely said.Thank you for that.

On the other hand, thanks for all the guys voting cold. You know ,there is a lesson for me not to post any more deals. Some people just do not deserve to be tought or guided...so... enjoy your laptop from PCWorld or Dell ...as you have not got much time in many cases:p.Just remember that because of your activities, you will not have a choice one day...
