The cheap acer timeline laptops seem to be selling out quick. However if you're not too fussed about HDMI or Windows 7 then this one might be worth a go.

Cheers. I still haven't bought it though! I'm a Vista hater myself ;) and I'm umming and ahhing between this or something a bit more expensive but with W7. The current contenders are:

Samsung Q430 - £500 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Samsung_Q430_987267.html
questions about screen and build quality, only 3GB, but has nice keyboard and fast processor

Asus UL30A - £500 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ASUS_UL30A-QX131V_678201.html
Big questions about it's sturdiness

Sony VPC21s1e/p £515 (with code) http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sony-vpcy21s1e-p-06559622-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-1-[Awin]
Poor processor
Not sure if it will dual boot with ubuntu/linux
Pink

I'm leaning towards the Sony, but I'm reckon that the prices might drop after Xmas

be sure to keep in mind that the assumed battery life is probably only when you use the least application (browser and probably a messenger or two).

looks like a pretty nice laptop alright. Ordered the 1420P myself today from this crowd, just be aware that (for me anyway) they added on 1.5% extra to cover credit card charges. It was only about £6, but I tought it was a nasty little surprise myself
