"A powerful Intel Core 2 Duo CPU is well supported by 1GB Memory, a 160 GB Hard drive & a DVD rewriter. Windows Vista Home premium is pre-installed so just plug in and go!"

Then it says in the spec:

"* Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2140 1.6GHz with Enhanced SpeedStep Technology."

Is it Dual Core or Core 2 Duo?

Well spotted.

The E2140 is a Pentium Dual core Allendale, and not a Core-2-Duo.

Don't intel market all the EXXX series as part of the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor family?

Both were Allendale (65nm) and had two processing units which may cause the confusion - and all recent ones will fit the LGA 775 socket but...

Very tempted, my home computer has just died a death

Don't bother it's an Acer, the worst company i have ever dealt with, they broke my laptop when it went into repaid for the 3rd time in 4 minths and wanted to charge me over a hundred quid for their damage, lying swines.
#13
ibiza thanks for clearing that up!

They are sold out now, BUT this may get some fresh stock on web special price tomorrow.

It if comes with Vista installed and only 1 GB of RAM (DDR2 as well not DDR3), then its going to run like a slug when anything at all is open.

If you do buy this you will need to get some more RAM for the machine.

Dell have some deals which are alot better in my opinion, so i would have a good look at the dell deals posted on here before this machine.
#15
Good deal.......Just install 1GB more memory and you have a good deal.

We have 4 Acer's and no problems at all. Maybe the guy who had problems was unlucky.

I will vote it hot

OKish deal but its let down by the slow processor and very old fashioned graphics chipset, and looks like its expred now anyway.
#17
how come its expired there are 20 in stock now?

also 1gb of ddr2 can be picked up for about £10.

Ddr3 is expensive and offers little performance gain.
#18
can this be upgraded and for the price is it good/?
do u think this is good for hd films?

^ Yes to all three questions

Core 2 duo is later & faster & much better than dual core.. not as bandwidth hungry

^ It depends which your comparing as a Pentium-Dual-Core like the one posted here is merely a Core 2 Duo with the on-chip L2 cache slightly reduced
