Totally agree. I have the AL1916W. Found it excellent. Only downside on mine is no digital input.

Good price but no DVI.
#11
same here, unlucky me, if i reserved one which was about 30 mile away from me, could i go to my local and ask them to deliver it to them. worth a try, anyone know ?
#12
cant find one in 9 nearesst stores :(

Don't forget quidco for 2.5% cashback!

i have this monitor...highly recommended
#15
No DVI, would probably buy this if it had a DVI connection.
#16
This is really odd, the model X223W doesn't even exist on the Acer Website. Dixons retail group exclusive perhaps?

I certainly know that the X222W and X221W models have a DVI and analogue VGA inputs, myself owning a X221W.

Check in store, but I would think they do have DVI. Hot price if so.

i bought the samsung in the thread posted a few days ago. Still awaiting delivery, due next week. I think its a better deal esp if you're thinking of attaching a HDMI capable DVD player (or games console) to it.

they can delivery from store to store, usually takes a couple of days, just plead with them in your store, someone should do because its more money for them if they sell it from their store as opposed to a further one

#26
Would one of those that actually own this please post and clarify whether or not the X223W has a DVI port like the X221W & X222W for prospective buyers please?

Any one picked one up yet?

Does it have DVI?

I have one reserved but it is 27m away
#29
That contrast ration is the BS DCR (dynamic contrast ratio - like quoting digital zoom on a camera).

Real contrast is 1000:1 - which is about right for a budget 22"
#30
Just bought one, no DVI, still very nice though
#31
No Dvi.

I have two res numbers in Burnley if any one needs them Pm me.
#32
i saw this on display, didnt look great to be honest, colours looked a bit washed out and a little blurry (probably due to the vga signal)

It probably wasn't configured properly, & VGA doesn't blur anything - in fact I cannot tell the difference when using VGA/DVI on my 19" Hanns-G TFT purchased 2 years ago. The only reasons I can think looked 'blurry' is that it wasn't set to it's native resolution or is faulty.

Edit: A review - not bad for a 22" TN panel that costs under £110.
#34
As others have said repeatably this has no DVI but honestly the difference between VGA and DVI is very hard to notice imho and 99% of the time you couldn't tell.
#35
na if its a poor panel you can see the difference, dvi is crystal clear comparing to vga on my dell 2407 and my monitor is not faulty

i had an acer 24" (AL2416) before and only kept it a few days due to the poor image quality, colours were washed out just like this tbh, hence why i left this in pcworld today

shame cause i was really looking forward to this

Couple of points....

You're comparing a high-end Dell UltraSharp PVA panel with TN panel monitors.

A TN panel will do for 99% of the average joe. I have no problem with mine.

actually im comparing the dells vga v dvi and saying there is a noticable difference between the 2 different inputs on the same screen

another thing, when you look at the acer close up, you can see the pixels alternating, shimmering, distorting, weird to describe but you can clearly see this, i remembered this from my acer 24 and noticed it today in pcw
#38
Picked one up yesterday and for £110 I've got no complaints!
As far as 'pixels alternating, shimmering, distorting,' I dont see it myself......
#39
I wouldn't say the lack of DVI as of itself is a deal killer - although haveing both a VGA and DVI (as a lot of panels at this price have) can be useful for running two devices off the same panel.
#40
also to help anyone who is after one of these and cant travel too far you could use comets price promise to get it for the same price as this one,

"We're so confident our prices are unbeatable that we've come up with the Comet Price Guarantee.

Here's how it works: if you've bought something from us and you find an identical product at a lower price within 10 miles of the store you bought it from, we'll refund the difference. Just let us know within 14 days. You can't lose."

http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/485209/ACER-X223W

another thing that you could maybe do which im not 100% sure about, is say to comet that pc world have agreed to deliver one from another branch to the one close to them and could they just price match it anyway. worth a try
