"Made it almost as cheap as Dell outlet for a similar refurbished system."

Wouldn't a Dell system be much better than an Acer :)?

Yeah, but the Dells are refurbished at that price.

Note that Bennetts Electricals is showing as having 4% via Quidco via the following link.

http://www.quidco.com/bennetts-electrical/

In addition to that the Dell Mini 9 Netbooks via the Dell Outlet only come with 8GB PCI-E SSDs, which will have a cost difference if you want to replace them with larger capacity internal storage further down the line - of course however the Dell Mini 9's are easier to upgrade (in terms of accessing the relevant slots) when you compare them to the Acer Aspire One! ;-)

On another note the Dell Mini 10 Netbooks via the Dell Outlet are running with slower CPUs (1.33GHz) but also the memory is not upgradeable and the last I looked they overall cost for purchasing them was over £200.00p with NO money back fro Quidco.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I have a Dell and Acer computers. I would never buy a Dell unit again - their customer service is outstandingly bad. I had a problem with my Acer a while ago and it was sorted with very little fuss - miles better service. I have this Netbook and its pretty good. The fan is noisy but this can be sorted with a Google search on new fan settings (someone has written new program/new cut in parameters). You also need to change the wireless configuration setup (again, Google it) so it runs at the same speed plugged in to the mains as it does on battery power. Good unit. I will never buy a Dell again.

[edit] That was a joke by the way before anyone points out the obvious, LOL

I bought this a while back at Comet. 1 GB RAM really does not run xp very well. I upgraded mine to 1.5 gb the max with this model (details can be found on You Tube, no easy task) XP runs better, but still slow compared to the other one I have wihich runs a free version of LINUX. The LINUX one flies, boots up and your on the web in less than a minute, you haven't got XP even to the welcome window by this time.
A word of warning . If the net book crashes and you have to reinstall the operating system, they supply a DVD, very useful as the netbook doesn't have a DVD ROM! To make a bootable usb you have to use another PC and adjust the bios settings, not something many people will want to mess around with.

I have a Acer One and it triple boots XP, Linux & Mac OS all up and running in under a minute, maybe you are loading a lot of stuff at startup.

Just powered it up for first time today, seems reasonably fast. Not much slower than my dual core laptop on start up.

Does not come with windows disks, but has an Acer System Restore option to return to factory settings if it all goes horrible wrong.

If memory serves the restore option is a hidden partition on the hard disk where image files are held to restore it from scratch - I remember this being brought up on another deal thread for the Acer Aspire One.

Don't think its a very good price, yesturday could get the latest 10" Aspire One D150 from eBay daily deals for the same money.

I know nothing about PC's, I have always used mac's, but I'd like to get a netbook for holiday, as Apple's just too damn expensive.
I was looking at this one:
