Does anyone have a more sensible link to information that the one provided - usual play.com just describing an image rather than what you're actually buying.

Just Google it, plenty of answers. This may help a little...

Anthony712.looks like a good deal you found there, works out slightly cheaper with 3 day delivery or slightly dearer with next day as they charge £9.99 for next day.I would contact it247 to clarify that it is on site repairs(sounds to good to be true for the price). If it is on site its a cracking deal,I would post it on here if i was you.
Csiman: You have a valid point on the warranty sched'ule,It is confusing,But if you had read my original post i stated that "This warranty pack will give you two extra years on top of your standard year's warranty!"

WOULDN'T TOUCH ACER EVER AGAIN!!

After my netbook broke I called them to arrange repair underwarranty. They advised me to pack it in the original packaging and contact DHL to arrange collection.

Then 14 days later I come home to find my netbook in my recycle box. Minus all retail packaging, charger and now with a software fault and cosmetic damage!! They didn't even fix the original fault (sunk left touch pad button).

Took it into Comet who sent it away. 10 days later Acer hadn't started the repair as they had no charger???

Comet kindly gave me an exchange

All their help desks are in little India and premium rate numbers. Got myself a NC10 now :)

Great until you need to claim
When i first reported the fault on mine i was told collection would be anytime in the next 3 working days (it was taken on the 3rd day)
your laptop will be sent to Ireland to be repaired by a company that keeps no acer parts in stock and have to order them from acer uk, which takes about a week
apart from to report a fault you can't contact them by email and i had to ring around for ages to get a contact number for the company where the laptop was
not sure how long they take to return as they still have mine nearly a month after first collecting it due to them ordering a second batch of spares as first lot did't fix the fault
in comparison my wife bought her laptop from pcworld and when it needed repair it was collected and returned withing 5 days

I have dealt with Acer Repair(Infoteam) 3 times.

They give you their account number, then you call DHL to arrange collection and they normally pick it up the next day. It gets sent to Plymouth, where they (don't) repair it. Then it gets sent back to you via DHL next day.

After three attempts they repaired the original problem, yet they failed to put the motherboard in properly so that created a new fault....I have given up chasing them about it.

If you have an Acer Laptop, I'd say buy it, because when things go wrong with laptops(and being acer there is a high chance) it can difficult to get the parts.

This is a PC warranty pack instead of a Laptop warranty pack.

I am going to echo what others on here and countless people all over the internet have said. DO NOT BUY ACER WARRANTIES - THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS.

plus someone on here said their contact centres are in india. don't mean to come off the wrong way but if ANYTHING and i mean anything is in india, i have learned (the hard way) to keep away from it.

-virgin media fault support. (waiting for them to call me back for four weeks, even though the guy said i should hear back within 24-48 hrs).

-xbox customer support. (the guy actually looked at my issue on his notes and said to me "wow this is such a mess, my manager just saw this and he is laughing becoz he dusnt know what to do). yeah....funny....

-apple customer support. (the indian customer support took my credit card details because they are SUPPOSED to have your ccard details when you register for a fault. then assured me it is "cumpany poleecy" and i would not be charged. two days later £250 comes out of my account, which takes a week to sort out after some irish lady interjects).

-philips tech. (since your item was bott from retail over 28 days ago you will need to send it back to us so we can recieve it and then send you the replacement - when told the item was bought UNDER 10 days ago he put me on hold and then came back and said "according to our cumpany poleecy you still need to send the item in).

-compaq customer support. (escalated to a manager who refused to believe the hard drive was licking. said hard drives used to click ears and years ago and the problem I was facing was indeed a fault with windows and I needed to call microsoft).

-HP customer support. (ACTUALLY offered to sell me the "next step up" laptop, because the one I wanted to send in was an older model - the only thing was the new one would cost me £80 more and had half the ram, HDD, and was a celeron).

These are all gadgets I have in the house, and unfortunately have had HORRENDOUS experience with the offshore (indian) call centres. Just don't bother with phoning and chant to yourself "how may i assist you" followed by "owvur cumpony poleecy dusnt allow us to....".

EU law gives me a 2 year warranty
The Sale of Goods Act effectively gives me a 6 year warranty
Why on earth should anyone pay £39.99 for this?
#17
I have to agree with a few people on here, you really need your head testing if you buy this, Acers Repair and Customer service is the worst I've ever had.

If fact you have to be mad to buy an acer product in the first place, but I'm sure a few acer fanboys with disagree.

Here's hoping Acer gets hit by the credit crunch and goes bye bye!
#18
This is a must if you have an Acer laptop as they are a load of carp.

I agree, but there's more hassle with the SoG act. I did work experience in PC World this may and no-one but the manager knew what the sales of goods act was and apparently, if they don't mention it, there's no chance of any assistance. So basically if you don't know the words 'Sales of goods act', you've got no chance in PC World! :whistling:

Your opinion and you are entitled to it...provided you have experience that is.

I do have an Acer laptop, a Pentium M, which is coming up to 5 years old. It has been no problem whatsoever. I am even considering upping the RAM as I can then run Windows 7 on it.

I bought one of theses warranties from it247 but didn't need to use it so can't comment on the service.

Bought 2 Acer laptops from Comet, same Model - one didn't work so returned it for an exchange, one has been in for repair many times but is now out of warranty and dead.

Other one has just died and out of warranty by a few months.

Yes I have experience with Acer laptops. :whistling:

So this still doesn't say what is OR isn't covered - I have 3 year next day business on my Lenovo and everything is covered. Some product types will be excluded from this support agreement and I still don't know what is covered.
